Despite the difficult economic times, the members of Cruiser Club Boston, a local motorcycle club, have once again rallied around the homeless animals of PAWS. The club is hosting a benefit motorcycle ride and donation drive that will start with a gathering at the Wakefield Honey Dew Donuts, 147 Lowell St., on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Much like last year, the riders will bring food, litter and other donations to the PAWS tent in the Honey Dew Donuts parking lot. All donators will receive guided tours of the PAWS adoption day facilities at VCA Animal Hospital to see firsthand how their donations will make a difference in these animals’ lives.
Non-riders may also stop by the VCA Animal Hospital as PAWS is having a special adoption day. The first five adopters who put a deposit on a cat will receive a gift certificate for a free bouquet of flowers from Kreations by Karlene. Karlene Kiddy, owner of Kreations by Karlene, at 649 Lowell St. in Peabody, has generously donated her floral bouquets for this special adoption day.
Cruiser Club Boston is a family-oriented, non-territorial, social club open to anyone who rides any brand of motorcycle. For more information, go to cruiserclubboston.org.
PAWS has regular adoption hours at PETCO in Woburn on the first and third Sundays each month, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. On every Saturday, visitors may go to the VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many of the cats can be seen online at pawswakefield.rescuegroups.org.
For those who cannot attend the September 12 event and are interested in adopting a cat, e-mail pawswakefield@yahoo.com or call 781-246-6111 to arrange a meeting.
