Noise - A Motorcyclist's Worst Enemy

In the public eye, loud motorcycles are reason enough to ban them. If we, as the motorcycling community, have not learned that yet, we deserve to be banned! Loud pipes do NOT save lives; there is no evidence at all - anywhere - that having open mufflers or simply tiny baffles saves any lives. This article addresses this, but it also suggests the law which Denver passed: all motorcycles must have EPA stamps on them or they are fined. Unfortunately, for most classic motorcycles, this is not an option. This is an example of what we can expect if we don't quiet our bikes now! They will always go after us, even though those 'import-tuner' people have even louder exhausts and stereos, because we make up less than 3% of the population.
