Indian Motorcycle to be Featured in ABC News

Given the terrible economy, it is hard to believe that there are actually success stories in the motorcycle industry. Indian Motorcycles is bucking the hard times and doing quite well compared to many companies. So, ABC News will be filming a special feature on the newly re-born (again, again, again) marque. Indian history will also be covered as will a ride down through North Carolina and through Deal's Gap.

The Story of Little-Known Motorcycle Company Thor

It is an odd story at the very beginning of the motorcycle industry which we now know. Thor was created by Aurora, the company which built engines and many other parts for Indian Motocycle (yes, that is how they spelled it back then) at the time. For the most part, Thor motorcycles even looked similar to Indians due to the fact that both machines had parts and engines built by the same company. There is a great deal of history behind this marque, and it is worth reading (even if some of the grammar and spelling is not perfect).

The New Indian Motorcycle Company - Will it Survive This Time?

However, the new owners - Stellican Ltd. of England - seems to have a solid business plan and is dedicated to making beautiful and rock-solid reliable motorcycles. The new line consists mostly of high-dollar and high-end 'big, bad American cruiser.' Will it work? Only time will answer that question...

In Michigan? Test Ride a NEW Indian Motorcycle

Smokin Joes Motorsports of Caledonia, Michigan, is an official Indian dealer now. So, to promote this new alliance, they are going to let customers test ride the new Indian models next weekend - August 22-23, 2009.

Of course, they will sell 'only American-made' motorcycles there...I guess they don't know that no motorcycle is all American-made, just 'assembled in the USA'.
