Mayor Ron Clarke has sided with residents living near a motocross track near Australia's Gold Coast who want it shut down - it has been there for 30-freakin-years, but they want it closed (like residents complaining about airport noise - if you don't like it, don't move there!). Doohan has said that this is a seriously short-sighted move and will actually endanger the kids who use the track...

A Truly Well-Made Motorcycle Safety Video with Mick Doohan
This comes from Down Under (actually Down Down Under as it is out of South Australia) and stars Mick Doohan and some stunning crashes from MotoGP in recent years. The editing is quality and it has a good air of professionalism. If only they could translate those here in the US. I think everyone would enjoy the message and maybe even cringe a little. Enjoy the vid and check out the website; it is one of the better ones out there.

Melbourne’s Federation Square Celebrates MotoGP Phillip Island Round
The sheer number of people turning out for this event should demonstrate just how mad Australians are about motorcycle racing. Of course, it could have been that moto-celebrities like Mick Doohan, Wayne Gardner and Hiroshi Aoyama were in attendance. But, just know that the nation 'Down Under' is a nation/continent where motorcyclists are well represented and there is plenty of passion for racing!
