Monday Afternoon Moto News - AMA Pro Racing & Roehr

Here is some so-so news from the DMG /AMA Pro Racing world - they will run their series at the 2010 USGP at Laguna Seca. This is certainly welcome news for the Laguna Seca circuit as they would have only had one series running there (MotoGP) if the AMA Pro Racing series were to skip the event. Politics in motorcycle racing, where would we be without it?

Roehr Motorcycles has announced that they are working on manufacturing both sport and racing electric motorcycles. That is very welcome news from them as it will work to make that segment of the motorcycle industry even larger - which is very good for those of us who want to purchase one. It was just 2009 when they received approval from the various government agencies to sell their H-D-powered 1250SC.

Out of nowhere comes a very nice story about a 42-year-old Canadian, Patrick Trahan, competing in the Rally Dakar for his third Dakar challenge. He is a dedicated racer from the Great White North and will do just about anything to tackle this dangerous race event. His Honda CRX450X is very much prepared for what the South American landscape can do to a motorcycle. On the bottom of the article is a list of all the Canadians racing in the event.

Roehr Gets CARB Certification for Sale in California

The Harley-Davidson sportbike has been on sale since July, but not in California. Now, it will be possible to sell them in the state thanks to an approval from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), who control automotive and motorcycle emissions for the state. Now all those wealthy Californian 'Harley lovers' can purchase a well-developed sports machine, the 1250SC.

Great Deal: 2010 ROEHR 1250sc Factory Demo for Sale

The bike was used for demo rides and only has 2,600 miles on the clock. Given the MSRP for this 180HP beast of a machine, US$45,000, the US$19,995 asking price for this demonstration unit is incredible. Own a piece of history for very little $$$. I would, if I could...

2010 Roehr 1250SC - First Ride Impression

This is the first independent review of the new Roehr offering. They like it, actually, but it is a road bike, not a track weapon. Of course, you are buying a well-designed frame and the V-Rod 1250c.c. engine (designed by Porsche) when you buy the US$42,500 machine. However, can you find more performance for less...yes, you can.

Yet Another Attempt at Making a Harley Supersport Bike - ROEHR

This is a little late, but no one is reading this anyway.

Apparently, ROEHR was given EPA approval sometime at the end of last month (July 2009), but I only now read about it. They are producing a supersport motorcycle with a Harley-Davidson Revolution Engine (designed by Porsche) from the V-Rod and they supercharged it to get 180HP at the crank. Figure about 14% friction reduction from the tranny and you are looking at about 155HP at the rear wheel - on par with some Japanese liter bikes from about two years ago. However, it is the frame which has many people interested; how they managed to stuff all of the Revolution's plumbing into that bodywork is something I would like to see in person. And, it is stated that it only weighs 432 pounds dry.

Have a look and make your own decision. With the price at US$50,000, I can think of a number of different models I would rather own...can you say Bimota!
