Apparently, Danny John-Jules really liked the BMW S1000RR. It's a good choice given the bikes capabilities, and a seemingly well-thought opinion. BMW has officially presented their 2010 World Superbike Championship team as of now. This comes to us via a press release, so expect the usual hype. First Ride: Rubén Xaus' BMW S1000RR Factory Superbike!

Yeah, so, the title is the same again - it fits! The team over at Cycle World managed to get their hands on Xaus' S1000RR World Superbike machine and took it out at Portimao, Portugal. Saying that Cernicky was impressed is a true understatement; when you have over 200 HP on tap and an open track with a motorcycle that handles as well as the S1000RR, you certainly cannot be unemotional. BMW Happy With World Superbike Season and Will Retain Team

In 2010, though, they hope to win some races - if not the championship, with Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser. BMW will keep the team intact and they have learned a great deal from this first year of competition on the S1000RR. It has been a good season for a fully new motorcycle and a new team, though Aprilia has also managed to podium a few times...2010 will be a great year for the World Superbike Championship!

BMW Having Some Success in World Superbike

However, I am rather sure it is not the success they were hoping for. At Imola, Xaus managed two top thirteen finishes after coming back from injury. Troy Corser managed an 11th place finish in race 1, but had a DNF in race 2; both issues brake-related. BMW has one of the most powerful stock bikes on the grid, so I think we should see better finishes next year once they have the machine sorted for racing. Even given this, BMW has had a good season considering they are using a NIB motorcycle...

Richard Cooper Will Ride in BSB Silverstone Round

Cooper only sits 8 points back of John McGuinness in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship standings, so he has a chance to improve on that and move forward if he does as well this weekend as he did Mallory Park. He is back from a ride on the WSBK BMW team, where he replaced injured rider Ruben Xaus.

Ruben Xaus Recovery Proceeding Well

Since his broken femur in Brno, Ruben Xaus has been working very hard to get fit enough to return to WSB and race his BMW. If his doctors approve, he will be participating in the next round at Nurburgring. Glad to have you back, Xaus!
