Big MotoGP News for Speed Viewers in North America

Dorna and Speed (TV) have reached an agreement which will allow the US-based channel to air the 2010 - 2012 MotoGP Championship seasons in high-definition (HD) LIVE! It's the first of its kind for North American fans of the world's greatest sport, the Motorcycle Grand Prix. The agreement begins this weekend with the Qatar round of the series - a night race in the desert. Speed will show the event live at 4 PM (ET) on 11 April 2010. MORE Afternoon Moto News - Sarolea Motorcycle & Pit Pass Radio

A very rare Sarolea Motorcycle, a 1942 model, was featured on the History Channel show "Pawn Stars". The pawn broker in the show purchased the vintage Belgian motorcycle for US$4500 and then sold it at auction for US$7000. It is probably worth a bit more as there are rumored to only be 5 of them in the entire USA. These bikes are in high demand by collectors, so expect to hear plenty more of this story in the coming weeks.

Yep, direct from the press release about Zero and "Ride to Adventure Extreme", an Outdoor Channel reality show:

The Outdoor Channel selected Zero Motorcycles for the popular series "Ride to Adventure Extreme." The upcoming episode takes place in Colorado where a group of off-road riders climb to over 13,000 feet on one of the toughest backcountry passes in the state. It's showing at 5:30PM and 8:30PM PST Monday Feb 8th.

Isle of Man's Motorsport Mundial to Be Broadcast in South Asia

It's a strange thing to hear; I would figure that a motorsports news show like Motorsport Mundial would make it to North America the first time it expanded beyond Europe. The show will be broadcast on the sports channel Ten Sports, broadcast in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Those lucky viewers!

Shake-Up at BBC Involving Televised MotoGP Race Production

It seems that the BBC has now distanced itself from some controversy early this season by letting go of current MotoGP television producer Belinda Moore. The person responsible for the 2008 coverage of the British Superbike and who now handles Formula 1 for the BBC, Mark Wilkin, will be taking over the position. National Geographic Channel to Air Motorcycle Crash Documentary

This - again - came via a post from one of my fellow Team Oregon instructors. The documentary will air on Thursday, 17 September 2009, in the US market. It also features some of the greatest racers in history talking about what goes through their minds when they crashed...the photography/filming is alone enough reason to watch this hour-long show on NGTV.
