Graves Motorsport Takes on WERA & MIC Announces Election Results

Graves Motorsports, Yamaha's team inside the AMA Pro Racing ranks, is also taking on the WERA with rider Benny Solis and a host of support programs. Many racers have used Graves parts over the lats 20 years of their existence, and many more will be using them this year in the WERA Championship. The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) has released the results of the election for their 2010 board of directors. The standard way they do this is to elect three of them one year and then the other three the next year, and they serve a two year term. More Morning Moto News - Aprilia Recall, Honda Racing & CPSIA + MIC

The recall for the 2010 Aprilia RSV-4 has been updated. The North American side of this issue now has the RSV-4 engines on hand and the replacement should be complete in the next two to three weeks. That's good news for all the owners; at least they will get them done in time for summer!

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) in the US managed to deliver some 4000 signatures from experts, who work in the motorcycle industry and some who specialize in safety, to the US Congress yesterday. The petition calls for there to be an exclusion from the CPSIA bill for youth-oriented motorcycles and ATVs. It's really a simple idea and Congress should act on it soon. Sunday Morning Moto News - Indy Dealer Expo & MIC Meeting

At Indianapolis, Indiana, this weekend, the 2010 Dealer Expo has attracted a decent crowd of enthusiasts for this year's show - but the overall number of participants is way down. On day 1 at the show, Malcolm Smith was in attendance at the Husqvarna (only marque in attendance this year) booth, Ben Spies was signing autographs and Danny Eslick was wondering around a looking at the new bits and bobs. Today will have a host of other announcements and special events; so, get there if you can!

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) also held their annual members-only meeting in Indianapolis in conjunction with the Dealer Expo. Their main topic was the economic recession and its effects on the industry. Of course, there was some good news, but there are also still plenty of businesses in our industry which are struggling. The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) has created a video letter which you can forward to your Congressional representatives. The subject is the CPSIA and how it has taken away the right of our younger brothers and sisters, as well as sons and daughters, to ride an appropriate-sized motorcycle or ATV. Racers Edge Performance Suzuki has made their testing debut with rider Scott Charlton at the Phillip Island circuit a few days ago. Charlton is doing very well so far, keeping his times very close to the larger and better financed teams in the Australian Superbike Championship. Plus, he has been able to get used to this new-to-him machine very quickly. I wonder if Charlton will be able to hang at the front...we don't have too long to wait to find out!

Motorcycle Industry Council Launches 'Revive Your Ride' Program

Form the MIC comes a new program designed to help drive more traffic into a motorcycle dealer. The idea is to highlight various specials and sales and bring in crowds similar to the 'Black Friday' retail mobs. Dealers can go to the MIC website and source all sorts of materials to help them set up a Revive Your Ride program at their location. If it helps bring in the customers in this economic environment, there's nothing wrong with it.

Scholarship Now Available for Marshall University OHV Recreation Management Course

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA) are working together to make this scholarship available to people who wish to study OHV Management. The course was designed by the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC). Four separate course make up the program, but two remain to be developed. From the MIC: The Environmental Case for Motorcycles

For the longest time I have been trying to convince my Green-addicted (I am very addicted myself) friends and relatives to see just how environmentally responsible motorcycles really are. I have even had a fight with an online columnist about this - she just took some old-school research and denied that there was a case at all. To be sure. there are some motorcycles out there which pollute much more than they should, but the motorcycles in my garage all get better fuel-efficiency than my four-wheeled cage, and, if you add up all of their weight and the materials used to make them, the still only get close to the weight of the old Toyota Tercel in the parking lot. The Motorcycle Industry Council deserves credit for releasing this information...
