Brock's Offers WERA Contingency & Aprilia RSV-4R versus Yamaha YZF-R1

Brock's Performance, supplier of BST carbon-fiber wheels for Japanese sportbikes in the US, is offering some US$37,200 in contingency money for the WERA series. Motorcyclist has put up a comparison of two of the most praised liter-class bikes in the industry - the 2010 Aprilia RSV-4R and the Yamaha YZF-R1. Both machines (even the 'low-end' Aprilia) have some of the most advanced, race-developed technology that the sport has ever seen. Bostrom and Clark Take WERA Endurance Win in Georgia

Ben Bostrom and Chris Clark piloted their Team Zyvax 2 Yamaha YZF-R1 to victory at the Roebling Road Raceway outside of Savannah, Georgia. They took the win with nine laps in front of the second place team, Team Hooters Apex 2 Suzuki GSX-R600 ridden by James Rispoli and Tim Birdsong. Third place was the other Yamaha team - riding a YZF-R6 - of Dane Westby and Clinton Sellers. It was cold and rainy at the track, but the 15 teams who attended fought the elements and raced against the wind. For all the details, please take the link.

Graves Motorsport Takes on WERA & MIC Announces Election Results

Graves Motorsports, Yamaha's team inside the AMA Pro Racing ranks, is also taking on the WERA with rider Benny Solis and a host of support programs. Many racers have used Graves parts over the lats 20 years of their existence, and many more will be using them this year in the WERA Championship. You will even find several former AMA racers in the WERA paddock, so take in a round - you will not be disappointed.

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) has released the results of the election for their 2010 board of directors. The standard way they do this is to elect three of them one year and then the other three the next year, and they serve a two year term. MORE Afternoon Moto News - BMW S1000RR Impresses & Vesrah Suzuki

A BMW dealer in Arizona asked a local race shop to take out their demo model 2010 BMW S1000RR to a local track to see how it might fair in an AMA race. Well, the stock, just off the showroom floor S1000RR managed to set the lap record at a local track - beating a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in Superstock trim. The record was set by former AMA racer Chris Peris. Given the results, the dealer - Iron Horse BMW - and the shop - Evan Steele Performance (ESP) - have decided to contend the AMA Pro Racing Superbike race at Fontana...and see where this leads them from there...

Vesrah Suzuki - of WERA Endurance racing - will enter the 2010 AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike series with two riders. Cory West and Jeff Wood will ride GSX-R600 bikes prepared by their team. They do have much of the same crew from previous seasons and will have the same sponsors. Looking good for the newcomer to the AMA series!

More and More Moto News - Yamaha Contingency and US Dealers

This post is all Yamaha. First off, there are more details on the Graves Yamaha contingency program now in place in the WERA Endurance series. It pays US$5000 to the winner of the Mediumweight Superbike Class, if you are on a Yamaha. The next Yamaha contingency program is the US$52,250 they have allocated for the top 3 finishers from the amateur to pro ranks in the AMA GNCC series - that consists of 10 classes paying contingency if you are riding a bike from the tuning fork company. Goos news for racers in need of extra cash - and who isn't!?!

Yamaha has decided that they want to increase their dealer network in the US by some 70%! They are after more sales, better service and improve inventory practices. They will be working with current dealers first - to expand the floorspace for Yamahas - then will look to adding dealerships where they are under-served.

Friday and Looking for Suzuki GSX-Rs & Vesrah Suzuki Leaving!

MotorcycleUSA is looking for several Suzuki models for a 25 year celebration of the GSX-R motorcycle model line. Eight championships in 9 years with three perfect seasons and 76 race wins. Vesrah Suzuki is withdrawing from WERA National Endurance Series. They only say that they are "...looking forward to a new challenge..." They are an modern institution in the series and have had a huge number of great racers on their team - take the link to catch the list as I simply do not have enough room. I truly hope that they are moving into some other motorcycle racing discipline - they will be missed.

There is news about the World Endurance series and the finale scheduled for Doha, Qatar. The WERA West series will be in Las Vegas. And, as we all know by now - Ben Spies is World Superbike Champion and Valentino Rossi is MotoGP World Champion. Plus, there is the matter of Yamaha pulling out of AMA/DMG Pro Racing and leaving it all up to Graves Racing. Vesrah Suzuki Takes WERA National Endurance Championship

Vesrah Suzuki took their GSX-R1000 to the top of the podium and, with that win, clinched their Championship with riders Tray Batey, Corey West and John Jacobi. With the huge turnout and the many race classes, it is best to just take the link.

Josh Hayes, Melissa Paris and Ben Bostrom Take Yamaha to Endurance Racing

This weekend at Virginia International Raceway (Alton, Virginia) will see Hayes, his wife Paris, and Bostrom riding in the WERA Endurance race. Ben Bostrom and Josh Hayes will ride on a team with Sam Gaige on a Yamaha YXF-R1; Melissa Paris will ride with Mike Cerone and Miles Thornton on the Markbilt/GYT-R YZF-R6.

It should make for interesting viewing, if you can get there!
