TTXGP Begins at Infineon Raceway Today!

Sorry this is so late, but the inaugural TTXGP race for the 2010 season will begin today at Infineon Raceway in California. The series will have 13 rounds and will end with a huge Grand Finale event in Spain. It is a historic weekend for all motorcycle racing - this is the first ever global electric racing series! Wednesday Evening Moto News - Husqvarna and Vermeulen

Husqvarna has been named the Marque of the Year for 2010 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. The event, as always, will be Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, during 9 - 11 July 2010. Husqvarna only recently returned to full-time participation in AMA national level racing and they are quite happy to be selected for this honor.

He will be spearheading Kawasaki's effort in that series for 2010, and I can think of no one better suited to the task. Monday Afternoon Moto News - AMA Pro Racing & Roehr

Here is some so-so news from the DMG /AMA Pro Racing world - they will run their series at the 2010 USGP at Laguna Seca. This is certainly welcome news for the Laguna Seca circuit as they would have only had one series running there (MotoGP) if the AMA Pro Racing series were to skip the event. Politics in motorcycle racing, where would we be without it?

Roehr Motorcycles has announced that they are working on manufacturing both sport and racing electric motorcycles. That is very welcome news from them as it will work to make that segment of the motorcycle industry even larger - which is very good for those of us who want to purchase one. It was just 2009 when they received approval from the various government agencies to sell their H-D-powered 1250SC.

Out of nowhere comes a very nice story about a 42-year-old Canadian, Patrick Trahan, competing in the Rally Dakar for his third Dakar challenge. He is a dedicated racer from the Great White North and will do just about anything to tackle this dangerous race event. His Honda CRX450X is very much prepared for what the South American landscape can do to a motorcycle. On the bottom of the article is a list of all the Canadians racing in the event.

Knoxville Raceway Teams with AMA Pro Racing for Flat Track GNC

More Great Suzuki News - Jordan to Stay with Suzuki for 2010

Even more solid news for Suzuki, who seems to be riding out this economy rather well (even though they were bought by VW; though, maybe that is why they are so well funded), will have Michael Jordan's team running their machines in the DMG / AMA Pro Racing series. No real details have been given, but the source is rather sure that Jordan Motorsports will be in the paddock in 2010.

Funny how this took so long to come to light. I guess it is more to do with them figuring out which rounds of the series the WMX racers will be attached to. Considering he insisted that he left the DMG/AMA paddock to spend time with his family, I wouldn't think he would be interested. Josh Hayes' Yamaha YZF-R1 from 2009 AMA Pro Racing Season

At least I believe it to be from 2009, the author does not specify exactly. But, it is a very good up close look at the YZF-R1 motorcycle which Josh Hayes rode in the DMG/AMA Pro Racing American Superbike Championship. Graves Yamaha Testing in Las Vegas

American Suzuki Announces 2010 AMA Pro Racing Plans

Suzuki is going to consolidate their USA racing operations to save some money, so all Suzuki racing in the US will fall under the Yoshimura banner for 2010. Yoshimura Suzuki will support Team M4 Suzuki who will support Danny Eslick, who will be riding a GEICO Insurance-backed Suzuki GSX-R600 in 2010 with M4 co-branding. Larry Pegram Will Race in 2010 With or Without Ducati's Support

Ducati North America is still talking with Pegram about the 2010 season, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The interesting aspect of this is that he has most all of the sponsors he had in 2009, but Ducati will still not guarantee him support. No matter what, though, Pegram will line up on the starting grid at Daytona in March 2010.

Purses Lowered Significantly for DMG/AMA Pro Racing Series

The economy is hitting AMA Pro Racing hard - and you can see that from this article. They have drastically reduced the amount of the purse in American Superbike - from US$73,500 to $6500. And, in the Daytona SportBike class, they have cut it more than half - from US$73,500 to $30,500. At least it demonstrates which series the organizers hope will become the premier class, even though the rules it uses are rather different than any other racing series in the world. This will reduce the privateer effort even more...

Tissot Will Give Chronograph to Both AMA Athletes of the Year

Tissot Watches are very well-known in the motorcycle racing industry. The Swiss manufacturer of timepieces has supported racing series the world over, including MotoGP for many events. They have also brought out the MotoGP watch and the Nicky Hayden edition as well - both very nice watches. Now, they will be helping to support the AMA Championship Banquet by giving both the AMA Racing Athlete of the Year and ATV Athlete of the Year a special watch honoring their award. Good going AMA!
