Husaberg's riders did quite well at this past weekend's opening round of the 2010 AMA National Enduro series in South Carolina. Mike Lafferty and Nick Fahringer, their factory riders, placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the event. It looks as if this team is going to be a tough competitor this season. Starting top-five is a good way to begin a season.

The Husaberg factory team running in the 2010 WORCS series is not doing as well. However, their rider in that series, Nathan Woods, was injured for most of last season and is just now returning to form. He finished 13th overall on the day, but was as high as sixth position. Unfortunately, a late race crash led to his ending so far back. He will surely be better at the next round...

Myrtle Beach City Council Learns a Lesson and a Classic Triumph TR5
The city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, cancelled the 2009 Myrtle Beach Bike Week for what they said were excessive, noise, traffic congestion and other related issues. Well, they found out that the event brings in huge sums of money for many businesses located in the city. The Myrtle Beach City Council and its mayor John Rhodes have now figured out how important this event is to the city and its citizens. Yes, the members of the Council and that idiot mayor Rhodes are ignorant and very unqualified for their jobs, and they will likely be re-elected even though (American voters are not all that bright). So, the 2010 Myrtle Beach Bike Week is back on and it runs from either 7 or 11 - 16 May 2010. So, check the link and learn more.

And, now a blast from the past in the form of a 1956 Triumph TR5. This machine was built at a time when the English factory was making some of the best motorcycle in the world. If you get a chance to take one out for a ride, you will know why. No, it is not as powerful or athletic as a modern motorcycle, but it certainly has it own charms...and I would be a very proud owner if I had one - so you you!

Tuesday Afternoon Moto News from Around the World
Not much going on this afternoon, so I only have one to place here.
A blog which I have linked to many times in the past few months, Luxist, had some of the authors of the site take a ride at the BMW Performace Center in Spartanburg - outside of Greenville, South Carolina. They had one hell of a time, as you might expect. They also provided us with a look into the school and the BMW machines they use to train their students. There are even several quality photos of the time which was spent there. Take a look as you may one day attend this school as well...

This Weekend: The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival
The Hilton Head Island Concours (29 - 31 October 2009) also shares an event in Savannah, Georgia - The Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic. It will be held in a newly renovated track at Hutchinson Island on Friday and Saturday. But, on the Thursday before this, there will be a Happy Hour reception for drivers and fans at Johnson Square in Savannah from 5PM until 8PM. The Concours d'Elegance will be held at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Sunday. 150 autos and motorcycles from before 1980 will be on display. Sounds like fun to me...

Jason Raines Racing Very Quickly to Front of EnduroCross Pack
He has been runner-up in GNCC and even has a dirt-bike racing school in South Carolina, but this is his first year to compete in the Geico EnduroCross series. Nevertheless, he managed to make the main event in his first outing and is looking to improve during the season as he learns more and more about the events. The EX tracks are very challenging and only the best off-road riders are able to compete at a high level. It goes to show that Raines is a capable and smart rider\racer\entrepreneur!
