More Afternoon Moto News - Husaberg Wins & Neil Freeman

Husaberg has won its first US National win for the 2010 National Enduro Series. Rider Mike Lafferty won the third round of the event held at Daytona Beach for Daytona Bike Week. His teammate, Nick Fahringer, placed third after pushing very hard to catch Russell Bobbit, who finished in second. The event was a bit of a struggle as there was plenty of mud, but the Husaberg factory team pulled off an impressive showing!

Neil Freeman (former crew chief for Jamie Hacking on the Monster Kawasaki AMA team) has joined forces with Spectrum Motorsports to offer customers access to a true speed shop. Tuesday Morning Moto News - Husaberg, WORCS & Thundersprint

Husaberg's riders did quite well at this past weekend's opening round of the 2010 AMA National Enduro series in South Carolina. Mike Lafferty and Nick Fahringer, their factory riders, placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the event. It looks as if this team is going to be a tough competitor this season. Starting top-five is a good way to begin a season.

The Husaberg factory team running in the 2010 WORCS series is not doing as well. However, their rider in that series, Nathan Woods, was injured for most of last season and is just now returning to form. He finished 13th overall on the day, but was as high as sixth position. Unfortunately, a late race crash led to his ending so far back. He will surely be better at the next round...

Moving on, we have more news on the North West 200 race - Stuart Easton really wants to take on this race. He will be riding in the British Superbike Championship in 2010, but he will not miss this real roads race unless his BSB team will not let him compete due to safety concerns...I hope he makes it!

And, we get more behind the Tom Sykes story - he will remain in World Superbike for 2010. However, you probably already know that Yamaha jettisoned him and now he is riding on a Kawasaki for the next season. It was a good opportunity for he otherwise would be riding back in British Superbike.

Mike Lafferty and Nathan Woods Are Now with Husaberg Factory Team

Talk about a coup - Husaberg managed to snatch Lafferty away from a 15 year relationship with KTM. Lafferty is an 8 time National Enduro Champion. They also grabbed Woods, who is a 2 time WORCS Champion, to ride on the 2010 team. They did very well in putting the team together. Plus, they will continue to support Nick Fahringer for the same series. Husaberg will mostly compete in the Enduro Championship, but they will also compete in select EnduroCross, GNCC, and Hare Scramble races. Looks good for 2010!

Husaberg will be Well-Represented at 2009 ISDE in Portugal

They will have all 5 of their European factory riders in the ISDE - Joakim Ljunggren, Björne Carlsson and Calle Sjöö for Sweden, Valtteri Salonen for Finland, and Oriol Mena for Spain. Also, North American riders Nick Fahringer and Rory Sullivan will also ride for the US and Canada, respectively. Over 500 riders form 24 nations will be in Portugal for the 84th International Six Days Enduro, which will be raced during 12 - 17 October 2009. Husaberg's Fahringer Earns His First Podium of the Year

At the Marquette National Enduro, Husaberg's Nick Fahringer earned third place against the likes of Russell Bobbit and Mike Lafferty, who took first and second respectively. The podium puts Fahringer in an overall 4th place in the AMA National Enduro Series on his FE450.
