And, More Morning Moto News - Paolo Flammini & CPSIA Changes

At the Infront Motor Sports annual pre-season World Superbike press meeting, CEO Paolo Flammini pointed out some key points of this year's series. He even tried to predict the outcome of the series slight based on the exit of Ben Spies. Flammini even covered the new schedule and the change to the British round of the series - from Donington to Silverstone. It was a good event and it excited us for the year to come in racing.

The news keeps getting bigger and it is apparently not attracting enough attention, so they keep pushing it up higher and higher - and we should be very glad for this! This is the movement to make a change to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) to exempt youth motorcycle and ATVs from that new law. The CPSC, as we all know, has delayed action, but Congress needs to get something done quick before we end up with no options for our children who want to ride. If you have not done it yet, contact your Congressional representative now and ask them to help.

Paolo Flammini Confident of 24 Riders in 2010 WSBK Season

The World Superbike boss, Flammini, is sure that there will be at least 24 riders on the grid in his series, maybe more. With seven manufacturers and two riders on each team, you are already at 14 riders - then you add the privateer teams. Of course, there will not be the same number of those privateers this year - there were 31 riders at the Donington Park round, but there will likely be fewer in 2010. With 24 riders, we still have an excellent series on our hands next year...

MotoGP and World Superbike in War of Words Over Liter-Class Engine Rule

So, it has been said that Carmelo Ezpeleta was considering - seriously - returning to 1000c.c. engines for the MotoGP series. The idea there is to make racing in the top MotoGP series a little less expensive by using spec-1000c.c. engines much like the new Moto2 class will do in 2010; they are calling the potential new class Moto1. Of course, the WSBK leader, Paolo Flammini, is a little upset over this possibility as Vito Ippolito, president of the FIM, assured him that the Moto1 class would not come about...expect some serious legal wrangling if this debate continues...
