Dorna's top man, Carmelo Ezpeleta has again made the news cycle. This time it is all about Valentino Rossi and his time with Ferrari. Ezpeleta states that the Formula 1 interest in Rossi can only be good for the MotoGP Championship. He has a point as it will most certainly bring a few more fans into the series, not to mention some journalistic attention as well...

The head of the circuit-owning British Racing Drivers' Club has said that the new track layout at Silverstone is boring for Formula 1. Silverstone re-designed some of the track for the arrival of MotoGP this year, and some are quite happy with it. However, the consensus in the F1 world is saying a bit different...

MORE Morning Moto News - Ezpeleta and Changi & Haiti Bike Wash

MotoGP boss Carmelo Ezpeleta is getting a bit impatient. See, the Changi Motorsports Hub is far behind schedule and should be much further along than it is now. The idea is to bring MotoGP to Singapore for the first time, but they cannot do that if there are no facilities there for them to use. Ezpeleta doesn't even want to talk about it these days as he has been promised its construction for over two years now and there is nothign to show for it...now he wants to push it to get done!

More Morning Moto News - MotoGP vs WSBK, Dr. Costa & Moto2

A very neat little column/editorial about which of the two series - either MotoGP or World Superbike - is the best to watch. Well, the writer reaches a very respectable conclusion, but it is one you may expect. Given the talent in each series, and the motorcycles which they each race, it seems that both of these world-class series are worth your time and money...and, maybe, more!

And, we also have a short piece on Dr. Costa or MotoGP and World Superbike fame. We all know about him and, if you don't, you do not know nearly enough about motorcycle racing. Dr. Costa has taken a position at Imola now, and some are wondering if that means a return of the Imola 200, which used to be run with Grand Prix motorcycles...interesting and certainly a worthy idea!

Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta fears that the Moto2 series may become a victim of its own success. Ezpeleta believes that the current team line-up may be too large for it to be a viably entertaining series. Of course, we have yet to see a race from this class, so only experience will let us know. In the mean time, I say you should just watch and enjoy and we will all make our minds up about half-way through the season.

Thursday Morning Moto Race News - MotoGP, CRP and BSB

It seems that Dorna and Carmelo Ezpeleta has said that he is open to moving up the date of the 1000c.c. engine change for MotoGP by a year. He has stated that he would not fight against such a move, but he believes that all interested parties would probably want to stick with the 2012 date. It does show some flexibility in a place where there is usually little...

Italian firm CRP has finally released their eCRP 1.0 electric race motorcycle to the public. As you would imagine, coming from an Italian company, it is rather strikingly beautiful. The machine will run with two Agni motors which link to a single shaft, and, like the Mavizen TTX02, it has a touch-panel control system in place with wireless built in. It was designed specifically for racing in the 2010 TTXGP series. The units should start shipping around late March or early April.

Michael Laverty is looking for a championship in the 2010 British Superbike Championship. He will continue to ride for the Relentless Suzuki squad with teammate Alastair Seeley. If he can get it done this year, it will be Suzuki's first title in the BSB series since 2004. Expect Laverty to put on a real show.

That is the word out of Switzerland, where the MotoGP principals - the people with power in the series - are to decide on the future of the MotoGP series. Rumors have been circulating for some time now about this, but it seems that the rumors may be true...we will know more by this weekend.

MotoGP and World Superbike in War of Words Over Liter-Class Engine Rule

So, it has been said that Carmelo Ezpeleta was considering - seriously - returning to 1000c.c. engines for the MotoGP series. The idea there is to make racing in the top MotoGP series a little less expensive by using spec-1000c.c. engines much like the new Moto2 class will do in 2010; they are calling the potential new class Moto1. Of course, the WSBK leader, Paolo Flammini, is a little upset over this possibility as Vito Ippolito, president of the FIM, assured him that the Moto1 class would not come about...expect some serious legal wrangling if this debate continues...
