The all-new for 2010 MV Agusta F4 may look very similar to its predecessor, but there are several major changes which add up to make this liter-class Italian exotica something more than just a slight upgrade. The handling is better, engine performance more linear and overall control has been tamed somewhat. Still, it is from MV Agusta, so it will always be the beast it is at heart - and for which we all love the F4!

Tuesday Morning Moto News - Rider Dies on Phillip Island & MV Agusta F4 Review

A 72-year-old rider who was taking advantage of a program which allows spectators to take to the Phillip Island track after the races are finished. He had rented a Suzuki GSX-R600 to ride the circuit. While riding into the second turn he lost control and crashed - the rider behind him did not have time to stop and hit him. He was declared dead at the scene.

Early reports on the riding manners of the new 2010 MV Agusta F4-1000R are quite good. Many had complained about previous models being rather unforgiving on the road, but I have yet to seen that proven. However, the new F4 has the road-going behavior of a Honda now - it is smooth, easy to control, and takes to the track as if it were born there - and it was. From February to July thousands of Km will be covered to visit the best European cities and some of the worship places for motorcyclists. A non-stop tour of Europe to let the MV enthusiasts “live” a unique and unrepeatable experience: try the new MV Agusta generation. All this is MV on Tour 2010, the event that will start on February 18th next in the Dutch city of Utrecht.

Brutale on Tour will have as leaders the brand new Brutale 990R and 1090RR motorcycles which will be tried on road under the guidance of skilled foreriders. In this way all motorcyclists will be able to be tuned with the power of the new 4-cylinder MV engines from 998cc to 1078cc, and “have a proof” of the exceptional gifts of the incredible chassis and the new traction control adjustable on 8 levels.

Madrid, Rome, Florence, Nürburgring, Paris are only some of the cities that will be visited by Brutale on Tour and on July 11th it will end at Cascina Costa on the MV Agusta Revival, “holy” event for all motorcycle enthusiasts who have built the story of motorcycling… and who will carry on building it.

Instead F4 on Tour will offer the chance to all enthusiasts of trying the exceptional F4 on circuit. The most beautiful and fastest motorcycle in the world will be tested on some of the best and compelling circuits, some of them being stages of meetings of the MotoGP and Superbike world races, such as Misano, Hockenheim, Vallelunga and the new circuit of Motorland in Spain.

Ezpeleta states that the Formula 1 interest in Rossi can only be good for the MotoGP Championship. The head of the circuit-owning British Racing Drivers' Club has said that the new track layout at Silverstone is boring for Formula 1. Silverstone re-designed some of the track for the arrival of MotoGP this year, and some are quite happy with it. However, the consensus in the F1 world is saying a bit different...

It is obvious that MV would not want to take too much away from the brilliant Tamburini design - who would? But, this new model is much more advanced than even the most recent version of the previous F4 series. This is only a first look, but it is informative...

The new 2010 Aprilia SXV 5.5 is rolling off the production lines and should be at a dealer near you soon. It is a lovely beast carrying over all the sweet bits from the previous model, but it has also been improved in many areas. The writer of the linked piece really sees it as it is - a Supermoto race machine dressed up in street-bike clothing. It is no secret that one of these will someday take up space in my garage.

They Say - The F4 Will Save MV Agusta

I am not so sure of this, but I would love to know that it is true. Apparently, according to MV Agusta, they accepted several orders for the new 2010 F4 and that will help them survive this economy and the sale from Harley-Davidson. Claudio Castiglioni has even started redundancy negotiations (trying to find more efficiency) and has already extended the Christmas holidays to help keep costs down. The good news is that production will not be stopped at all - they will continue building their lovely machines...

EICMA: MV Corse Carbon Fiber 2010 MV Agusta F4

It is hard to describe except by saying that the MV Corse group has their minds working overtime to get parts and accessories available for the 2010 MV Agusta F4. The entire model of the 2010 F4 at EICMA was covered in flat-black carbon fiber dressing - the fairing, fenders, tank, and the rest of what would normally be plastic was all carbon fiber. It looks a bit menacing when dressed like this...it was just a demonstration, though, of what is already available for sale from MV Corse.

Lost in Translation? Multistrada 1200 Voted More Beautiful Than MV Agusta F4

Somehow it happened again - the Ducati Multistrada has won in a vote against the other new motorcycles at the EICMA show in Milan based in pure aesthetics. Just like last year's Streetfighter win, this one boggles the mind. Maybe the attendees at the show are coming from an alien world or something? I do agree that the new Multistrada 1200 looks much better than the bike it replaces, but in no way is it more beautiful than the 2010 F4 or even the 2010 Aprilia RSV-4R! Someone should analyze the voting system...
