Metzeler Racetec Interact Tires Prove Themselves & Suzuki Canada's New Deal

The new for 2010 Metzeler Racetec Interact tires already have a claim to fame - and the BSB Superstock season has yet to even begin! Steve Plater was riding his HM Plant Honda Fireblade (CBR1000RR) at Brands Hatch recently testing the tires in race conditions. During that test, he managed to break the short-circuit record at the track by more than a full half-second - 47.2 seconds versus the old record of 47.83. Very impressive indeed!

Well, it is not as useful as the New Deal once pushed ahead in this nation, but it is important to Canadian racers. Suzuki Canada has announced that they will have a reduced role in the Canadian Superbike Championship series in 2010. They will be paying a small homologation fee to keep their two popular GSX-R models in the series, but they will be providing no factory support to the teams who use them. More Morning Moto News - Zero and Sheheen & BSB Testing

Zero Motorcycles has just announced that they have signed Ralph Sheheen as spokesperson for their line of electric motorcycles. You all know Sheheen from the SPEED Channel, or at least you should as he hosts just about every motorcycle competition on the TV station. Josh Brookes has taken the lead at the pre-season British Superbike Championship testing at Gaudix. The Spanish circuit saw him take the unofficial lead away from Stuart Easton and Tommy Hill with his HM Plant Honda. The testing is certainly adding to Brookes' confidence and his belief that he does have a chance at winning the whole thing by season's end. For the details, please take the link.

British Superbike team MIST Suzuki may not be ready for the 2010 season opener at Brands Hatch, 3 - 5 April. The bikes they will be running are doing quite well, and the team is as ready as they can be to tackle the championship. However, they are having serious sponsorship issues - as many are - and may not have everything they need in order to start the season, including the all important rider...check it out:

New news is coming to us about Steve Plater and his run at the North West 200 road race. Plater will contest five different races at the event; two Supersport, two Superbike and, now, one Superstock race as well. He will be riding for the HM Plant Honda team for the event.

Steve Plater to Race in British Superstock in 2010

Plater won the British Supersport title in 2009 and now will move on to Superstock in 2010 for a new challenge. His teammate on the HM Plant Honda team will be well-known TT ace John McGuinness, so it will at least be an interesting team to watch. Two great riders on a great race bike - why would you miss it?

HM Plant Honda Boss Against Two Rounds of Cadwell Park

Neil Tuxworth, the man in the title, does not like the idea of having the British Superbike Championship visit Cadwell Park twice in the season; he believes it would be better to take one away from Cadwell and go somewhere else in the nation to get better exposure to the sport. Funny thing is, Cadwell is his team's home circuit...he is looking for variety, and that makes sense. Of course, Cadwell benefited from Donington Park's loss...

Josh Brookes Still Waiting to Decide Future

Brookes managed to finish fourth in the British Superbike Championship in 2009 despite not winning a single race and missing three events! His HM Plant Honda team has not decided what they are going to do in 2010, so he does not have an offer from them yet. However, several BSB and even World Superbike Championship (where Brookes has raced previously for three seasons) are interested in him. But, for now, it is a waiting game...

Finally! Race Results from Sunday's Oulton Park BSB Rounds

Leon Camier could not get it done in race 1 on Saturday, but he sure made up for it on Sunday at Oulton Park. He took both race victories and brought his total to 19 wins on the 2009 season of the British Superbike Championship. The usual suspects filled out the podium in both races: Stuart Easton, James Ellison, Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes. It was an incredible weekend...if only they broadcast to the US...

HM Plant Rider Richards Declared Fit for Silverstone

Glen Richards was supposed to run at the Croft round, but his injured thigh was not ready for the hardships of racing. He went out on the Silverstone Circuit to practice late last week and they determined he would be OK to ride in the race this coming weekend.

Kiyonari's Best Finish in BSB at Croft Only Fourth

So, some say that his return to British Superbike may not have gone as he had planned. Ryuichi Kiyonari ended up gridded eleventh and only made it to fourth place in the first race of the event...however, his WSBK outing this year has not been without problems as well...

Ryuichi Kiyonari Will Return to British Superbike at Croft

Having won the overall BSB championship twice, Kiyonari will return to the series from his current Ten Kate team in World Superbike and ride for HM Plant. The event will be held at the Croft Circuit during 11 - 13 September 2009.
