The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) has put together a new website intended to help riders determine if the helmet they own or they intend to purchase is DOT-compliant. This is an increasing problem with 'novelty' helmets being sold through some retailers and on the Internet.
The MIC launched the website back in May of this year and plans on keeping it updated with the latest models, though participation is voluntary for the helmet manufacturers. So, not all helmets will be there. It appears that the major players are participating (Arai, AGV, HJC, Scorpion, etc.), but not all of them.
The Motorcycle Industry Council is a non-profit trade association representing manufacturers and distributors of motorcycles and scooters, parts and accessories, and all things two-wheeled.
