This coming Saturday, 7 November 2009, will see the first ever Bruce Rossmeyer Harley-Davidson 24-Hour Live Auction online. More than 100 used motorcycles (most, if not all, are Harley-Davidsons) will be auctioned off with bids all starting at US$500. The site will have at least 10 photos of every motorcycle for sale as well as personnel from Bruce Rossmeyer's H-D dealership giving a sales pitch for each one. They also offer national and international shipping to all winners. It is very short (24 hours), so get to the site nice and early!

15th Annual Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson Ride for Children
The 15th version of the motorcycle charity ride had to go without the usual leader. Bruce Rossmeyer died in August while riding to the annual Sturgis rally in South Dakota (he was not wearing a helmet). He was the organizer and energy behind the ride, and he was certainly missed this year. It all went off in DeLand in Central Florida with his children riding in place of their fallen father...

Harley Legend Dies in Fatal Crash
This is very sad news...I have my own opinion on the helmet issue here, but it is really not relevant in the shadow of the size of this tragedy. Even I know who Bruce Rossmeyer is; he is the world's largest Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealer. He has dealerships in 15 locations including the largest, Destination Daytona in Daytona Beach, Florida (just outside, anyway). You might have even seen him on TV in some Geico Insurance commercials where he was at his dealership with a life-sized version of their trademark gecko.
This will impact the world of H-D, the motorcycling public and even AMA Pro Racing as he is a major race team sponsor.
Ride on, friend...
