Finally: Ducati Reveals Multistrada 1200 NOT Strada Aperta

The motorcycle of some mysterious note - meaning that it has been rumored to exist for some time now and has had many 'spy' shots taken while Ducati was testing it - is now officially the Multistrada 1200. It will not be the Strada Aperta or Stradaperta or Cayenne, thankfully. It will be a full-on replacement to the current Multistrada, it will compete directly with the BMW R1200GS, and there is plenty more conjecture after the link...

I am not sure what they are going to call their 2010 GS-competitor, but Ducati seems serious about its purpose as an all-around adventure bike. Have a look at the MCN (UK) photos of the bike testing in Italy on some rather rough off-road terrain...

2010 Ducati Strada Aperta Un-masked, Sort of...

Ducati has not released much more than a couple of slightly blurry photos of the front of the new for 2010 Strada Aperta (or, Stradaperta? or, Cayenne?). We only have the same details as before; should replace the Multistrada and is designed as a BMW GS killer...I suppose we will have to wait until the EICMA Show in Milan next month.

Ducati Renames Strada Aperta, Now Called Boxster...No, I Mean Cayenne, whoops...

For some reason, Ducati has decided to change the name of the new BMW GS competitor - the Strada Aperta - to "Cayenne". Cayenne? Isn't that the name of a Porsche SUV (ugliest SUV on the market)? I am not sure it will fly here in the US, but it just might...
