Oberdan Bezzi "Builds" A Beautiful MV

If only someone would actually put this into real steel - or some alloy - it would be mine. OK, that is not strictly true; I could not afford it - and it WILL become reality very soon, according to one source (linked below). It could be mimicked by a cleaver builder with a salvaged Brutale or F4...and, it would not be extraordinarily expensive, either. The Oberdan Bezzi MV Agusta 750S Classic Concept will debut at EICMA Milan in only a few weeks' time. Isn't she a beauty!

HOPE! Hope for Moto Morini - Berlusconi Buys!

Brother to Italian Prime Minister Silvio, Paolo Berlusconi has purchased Moto Morini and may have just saved it from becoming history. This is great news if Mr. Berlusconi is a fan of the marque's heritage and its desire to build its own engines. The word is that a new business plan - and, hopefully, an emergence from bankruptcy - should be in place by the 2010 EICMA show in Milan. Berlusconi also owns Italian marque Garelli and is in serious talks to take over MV Agusta...the plot thickens...

Nicely Accessorized MV Agusta Brutale 990R

Though I am an MV guy, through and through, I am not sure all of this stuff works for me - don't get me wrong, I love the carbon fiber everywhere, who doesn't? But, the odd carbon muffler tips? Not sure I like those as much as the previous version's stock setup. When you look at this specific 990R in the photos, you can really tell the detail differences between the first and second-generation Brutale. It's still the best looking (stock) naked on the market now.

PR: BMW Happy With EICMA Show and With Awards

The BMW K1300S won the Best Sports Tourer of 2009 and the F800GS won the Best Trailie category for the second year running. Overall, the EICMA event went much better than expected for many companies, but BMW walked away with these well-regarded awards which put them near the top of the successful list. This is a press release, so expect the usual marketing hype - BMW, though, does deserve the accolades.

The EICMA BMW Concept 6 - a Detailed Look

Though very few details were presented to the press and public at the EICMA Milan show, but from what was there some engineers have thought about what the machine could mean to the motorcycle industry. As it has been rumored that the Concept 6 engine is heading into production very soon, these thinkers have made some comparisons with what was shown and motorcycle industry history. So few 6-cylinder motorcycles have seen production over the years and now BMW is poised to change that for the 21st century...

EICMA: 2010 Ducati 848 in Matte Black - Sweet!

If you have read my posts, you will know that I have no special love for Ducati - nothing like obsession, but certainly respect and admiration; there are many Ducati motorcycles that I think any of us would not mind owning. Some are even worth cherishing and holding on to like many others. But, this 848 does look nicer - in a very strange way - in matte black. There is just something about that lack of hue, with no reflection, which makes it beautiful. It's not exactly my taste, but it certainly would be welcome in my garage - there are others I would like first. Have a look at the 'stealth' 848.

First Look: 2010 Beta Motor Company Offerings

Not too much here, but the best coverage I have found on the 2010 Betas. They will produce their usual mix of enduro, supermoto and dual-sport categories, which will have one of a 400, 450, or 525c.c. engine at its heart. Pricing has also been released. Of course, they are all still powered by KTM. But, with their Build Your Own Beta (BYOB) program, you can configure one of 60 different combinations of parts and accessories for your own personal Beta motorcycle. Pretty neat, eh?

EICMA: MV Corse Carbon Fiber 2010 MV Agusta F4

It is hard to describe except by saying that the MV Corse group has their minds working overtime to get parts and accessories available for the 2010 MV Agusta F4. The entire model of the 2010 F4 at EICMA was covered in flat-black carbon fiber dressing - the fairing, fenders, tank, and the rest of what would normally be plastic was all carbon fiber. It looks a bit menacing when dressed like this...it was just a demonstration, though, of what is already available for sale from MV Corse.

EICMA: Detail on Moto Guzzi's Award-Winning V12 Concept Motorcycles

Pierre Terblanche is someone with whom most of us are familiar - at least those of us who have a leaning towards Italian motorcycles. He was the principal - but not only - designer for the Moto Guzzi V12 series of concepts which we saw at EICMA. These machines did win a coveted design award at the show there in Italy, but how much do we know about them? Not too much, actually. EICMA: Millepercento Alba and Motard One - Moto Guzzi Customs

Both bikes were shown at EICMA in Milan this year, and both drew large crowds. The Alba is based on a Moto Guzzi BB1 - which itself is based on the Moto Guzzi Griso - and has been lightened and customized with some very nice looking bodywork. The second machine is also based on a Moto Guzzi and designed by Filippo Barbacane - he of Moto Guzzi Diamante concept - and is called Motard One. Both machines are supposed to weigh less than 397 lb (180 kg) and they have a trellis frame. Have a look - the Motard One (pictured here) doesn't look too comfortable, but it certainly looks fun!

First Look: 2010 Moto Morini Granferro 1200

It is a different type of supermoto machine - more similar to the Hypermotard than to a DR-Z400SM. It has a large 1187c.c. V-twin engine, like most of the Moto Morini motorcycles of the here and now. It is also one fun ride! Morini designer Rodolfo Frascoli is responsible for the look of the machine and he did an excellent job on the nice lines and very aggressive stance of the Granferro. Since Morini is in trouble, this is a machine which you should buy - at least, that's how you can justify purchasing such a lustful Italian steed to your friends and family...

EICMA: Piaggio Reveals USB Scooter Concept

The USB stands for Urban Sport Bike and it is only a concept at this point. However, it does have a gasoline-electric hybrid drive train which puts out 147 lb/ft of torque! The top speed is only around 60 mph, but it actually should get 155 miles per gallon in this form! If they were to produce it, it would sell in every nation that they could send it to. It is likely, though, that production costs at this time would be rather high, so the sale price would probably reflect this and make it ultra-expensive. Still, it is nice to see that the technology is improving constantly.

Just a short note to say that this video is focused on the new BMW concept motorcycle - the BMW Motorrad Concept 6. It has an in-line 6 engine which may go on to power some new models from the Bavarian manufacturer. So, in some respects, it is more than just a 'concept.'

Lost in Translation? Multistrada 1200 Voted More Beautiful Than MV Agusta F4

Somehow it happened again - the Ducati Multistrada has won in a vote against the other new motorcycles at the EICMA show in Milan based in pure aesthetics. Just like last year's Streetfighter win, this one boggles the mind. Maybe the attendees at the show are coming from an alien world or something? I do agree that the new Multistrada 1200 looks much better than the bike it replaces, but in no way is it more beautiful than the 2010 F4 or even the 2010 Aprilia RSV-4R! Someone should analyze the voting system...

Ducati Xerox Riders Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio at EICMA

Haga and Fabrizio are on a media tour now and so came out to see their fans and enjoy the show at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. Both riders came up and visited the Ducati stand and looked over the motorcycles, then went on to some radio interviews there at the show. Fabrizio came up on Thursday and Haga stopped in on Friday. Both signed plenty of autographs and even chatted with the show attendees. Very good PR Ducati!

Well, I know that many people will be interested in reading about the changes to the 2010 Hypermotard, so here they are. It is more powerful, more comfortable, sleeker and lighter; so, it is better overall. This, of course, is the low-spec model and the high-spec will be known as the SP in 2010.
