It is actually known as the Yamaha Battle of the Streets and it will take place in Paeroa, New Zealand. Several well-known local racers will be in the competition along with many unknowns from the club racing and track day ranks. It is run on a real roads course through the town. Other attractions include demo rides, BMW's S1000RR on display and many other vendors will be present. For more information, please take the link.

At the Sturgis rally this year a photographer well-known in the custom world, Michael Lichter, will be putting on a show at the Buffalo Chip Campground; he calls it the Eternal Combustion 30 in the Wind. There will be 30 custom bikes on display from the nations best builders, and a huge selection of Lichter's photographs will also be displayed. To be fair, there are some great bikes in this group - not as many repli-choppers as you might expect - so take the time to stop by and enjoy the views...

The North American International Motorcycle Supershow was held this weekend in Toronto Canada, but not much news came out from it (yet). Photos from "Long Way Down" to Be Auctioned for UNICEF
The "Long Way Down" photos were created (matted and framed) and displayed at the 2008 Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance near San Francisco, California. They toured the world as they raised awareness and money for UNICEF. I saw the exhibit at the Laguna Seca USGP in 2008 - they were good. Well, they will now be auctioned off on eBay - they are all being auctioned together. Good luck!

Microsoft Includes Ducati Theme in Windows 7 Release
Believe it or not, Ducati actually has its own theme in Windows 7, which has just been released to the public. They join Coca-Cola and Ferrari on that list. There are several nice photos used for the theme background, so you do have variety. Of course, I expected it - just like H-D, Ducati knows how to market themselves and they put their brand on anything and everything.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft Presents "The Wind in Your Hair: Vintage Motorcycles"
Actually, the exhibit is already in progress at the Louisville, Kentucky museum. However, on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00pm, local photographer Sarah Lyon will give a lecture about her series "Women Motorcycle Mechanics." If you are a member, the event is free; if not, it is only US$5 to join it.
