That was a close one for many fans of the MotoGP event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They usually make these announcements during the event, but this one came during Misano. Indianapolis MotoGP Round Discounting Tickets for 2010 Event

They are trying to get more people to attend the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix (though, this article incorrectly refers to this event as the USGP; that's at Lagna Seca) in 2010. So, prices have been reduced between US$10- 25 per ticket depending on the package you purchase. You should really look into attending this event as it is an incredible weekend for a family to spend together, or a great date!

Rumor Only: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Up for Sale?

I just found this while perusing my morning news - though, it does come from a blog - and was shocked to hear it. It is only a rumor now, but there is reason to believe the part about Tony George's situation as he resigned from the CEO position at IMS back in July. Ducati and Nicky Hayden to Auction Indy Helmet for Make-A-Wish

The helmet which Nicky Hayden wore to third place at the Indianapolis GP 2009 will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. After Race Reports From 2009 Indianapolis Grand Prix Weekend

So, they only had 75,130 in attendance on Sunday at Indy this year - for the US market, that is a solid turnout for MotoGP. In Europe they would ask what happened to keep everyone away - of course, there is the economy to blame for some of it (that cannot be denied), but it is also that motorcycle racing is a niche sport in the US. For Spain, those numbers would be worryingly bad; anything less than triple digits in that moto-mad nation is unheard of. The US just needs time to develop more of a following. It is getting better - even though some 75% of US round attendees are not from the US - and I can see a day when it will be huge. The timing (thank you Wall Street and Bankers) could be better for its appearance on these shores, though.

Of course, many words have been written in moto magazines about whether this is a good thing for us fans or a bad thing for the sport...well, the jury is out. I certainly don't want to see it turn into NASCAR!

Simon Clenches Closest Pole of Season for 125's

The 125c.c. qualifying at Indy was the closest session of the season so far. Julian Simon, of Bancaja Aspar Aprilia, pulled out the pole by .6 of a second.
