More Morning Moto News - Balatonring Circuit, Interwetten Honda & Kawasaki Z1

The Hungarian circuit of Balatonring looks to be on course for the 2010 Hungarian Motorcycle Grand Prix. However, we did read earlier reports on how some local civic groups are quite upset at how much taxpayer money is going into the track - and how little profit will be coming back to state coffers. So, there will probably be some political bullying - hopefully, it will be more compromise and working together - to get this track ready for the MotoGP circus to setup and play. 19 September 2010 is the date to watch for...

Interwetten Honda is following in the footsteps of the Aspar Grand Prix team and will have riders in all three classes, MotoGP, Moto2 and 125GP. They have signed on Marcel Schrotter for their 125cc effort; he is a young up-and-coming German rider who looks to be a competitive rider in the series. Even though it seems most teams are strapped for cash, it seems that these two teams are hedging their bets.

Looks like someone has a lovely, un-restored and healthy 1974 Kawasaki Z1 for sale on eBay. The price is close to US$9K right now, but it is worth every penny. You will have a very hard time trying to find one which has not been restored in this condition - it is almost perfect. Owning a piece of motorcycle history is simple, just take the link and then place a bid!

More Morning Moto News - Aaron Zanotti & eBay Cafe Racer

Aaron Zanotti is getting ready to tackle the 2010 British Superbike Championship Evo Class. However, he severed ties with his former race team, Red Viper Racing, and is looking to taking on the series as a privateer. But, he has yet to get the sponsorship he needs to take his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to the track. It's always about money...

This machine is famous - and you have certainly seen it in some moto magazine somewhere. It is the Carpy Honda CB750 Cafe, and it is one of a kind. Of course, the people offering it up for sale on eBay are quite proud of the machine and seem to have added some extra value simply due to the bike's popularity. However, it does appear that anyone who has thrown a leg over on this one has enjoyed it very much. Take a look and, if you have US$25,000 or more, it could be yours.

Thursday Afternoon Moto News - CB750 For Sale & Spain By Bullet

First of all is this eBay find of a 1975 Honda CB750. It is partially restored and ready to be finished into either a show bike or a mile-munching classic. The next one is a 1970 CB750 which only has 5,000 miles on the clock. It has been stored most of its life, but has received some recent work. Check them out and buy one if you can!

We have a great story about a man and his Royal Enfield Bullet who takes it all around the northern coast of Spain. It turns out that this mount, with a 50+ year-old design, is probably one of the best backroad cruising machines you can purchase. No, it is not perfect, but the feel of riding one through historic lands is just fantastic.

Thursday Morning Classic Bike News

The first part of this post is another eBay find - a 1941 Indian Sport Scout. It looks to be un-restored and the owner claims only 19,000 miles. It is also said that the engine turns over and has good compression, but no other details are mentioned. At last look, the auction was at US$10,100 and the reserve price had not yet been met. Take a look at history and imagine being able to buy this one...

Next, we have a story about a tour through Texas on British singles, believe it or not. Given the extensive road network and huge distances between places in the state, it is hard to imagine driving so far on such small motorcycles, but the author and some friends did just that. They spend a great deal of time enjoying the Texas Hill Country...and so should you!

More Wednesday Moto News from Just About Everywhere

This one will be at least two parts as I am sure to run out of room here...

The MCN Motorcycle Show in London is adding even more manufacturers to the list of attendees. There is one story here, but there are many others if you look. As more come in, I will update the list of links.

Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Derbi: http://tinyurl.com/y9gk6gm

This is surely a rare motorcycle! The Lloyd Brothers-prepared Aprilia RSV Mille Flat Track Race Bike is for sale on eBay in California. This is the same machine which Larry Pegram made the main at the historic Springfield Mile. The machine, so far, is going for less than US$3K, believe it or not. It's funny, but when I first saw this machine a while back, I wanted it! Too bad I cannot afford it now...

http://tinyurl.com/ydf8yf5

We also have some good news, we all hope! The Wheatcroft family, who are the owners of Donington Park, have said that they will re-open the circuit as soon as possible. That is wonderful news as this historic track should not be relegated to the dustbin of history.

Even More New Year's Eve News from the Moto World, Part 2

Didn't expect this news to make it, but here it is...

There is a sweet bike which was found on eBay by the bloggers at Motorcycle Classics - a 1984 Kawasaki GPz550. Now, this bike may not be very interesting to you, but to me it was a very significant motorcycle. They were everywhere when I was growing up back then and they were certainly hard to miss when on the street. This model has over 37,000 miles on it, but it was very well taken care of...take a look!

http://tinyurl.com/y9pfynx

Next, we have a trip to the Bonneville Vintage GP at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. This is just an article describing what happened at the 4th annual event in 2009 - and noting why you should not miss the 2010 running. Anyone who enjoys classic or historical motorcycles and motorcycle racing will enjoy this event like none before it!

http://tinyurl.com/y8z7m6c

Well, we also have a concept motorcycle which borrows heavily from the Confederate models in its design. The RK Racer is - of course - based on a Buell 1200 engine (not sure which one they mean) and it has many sharp edges. See if you think it is any better than what the Louisiana manufacturer (Confederate) produces and take a long look.

http://tinyurl.com/yecbhtm

And, yet another list of concept and prototype motorcycles which the author of the post hopes will one day enter production for sale to us mortals. It is very similar to many others you may have read, but it has plenty of pictures for which you are bound to produce your own drool! Some of these are simply gorgeous!

UK eBay Find: 1920's Era Triumph ND Deluxe

This Triumph is a very rare machine indeed. It is a 1920's era ND Deluxe - and it is in the middle of restoration. So, if you can make the purchase, you are already on the way to turning it in to a show bike. At my last look at the entry, it was at £5,000.00 with no bids and the reserve price not met (of course). If you live nearby, this might be your only chance to get your hands on a museum-worthy motorcycle which you can enjoy!

eBay Find: 1978 Triumph Bonneville T140V Custom Cafe Racer

What a lovely machine this is. It is based on a 1978 Triumph Bonneville T140V and has been lovingly taken care of. The 750c.c. twin engine was rebuilt from the bottom up, it runs all sorts of new parts on the inside, and has a Corbin Gunfighter seat and many other important upgrades on the outside. Just take a look and you are sure to be impressed...It is in Texas and the bidding was sub-US$3,000 the last time I checked.

Must Read: Online Used Motorcycle Scams to Avoid

The topic of this article is something with which even I am familiar - having been lucky enough to catch the scam before any of my own money was lost - and which everyone who is looking to sell of buy a used motorcycle online. They will try everything to get what you have for themselves, so you must be extremely cautious - especially if anything in the linked article happens to you. Read it and make sure you understand it all.

Demonstener D1200R Will Go Into Production

Only five will be made, and they are up for auction on eBay now, but they will be on the road soon! The D1200R is a highly modified BMW which is designed as a sport machine with incredibly smooth action. The low center of gravity, the boxer-twin engine, the high-end custom suspension, and that awesome streetfighter look - it looks almost like it would run on nuclear fusion...

eBay Find: 1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport from Combined Design

This is a lovely Italian beauty. The 1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport may not exactly top the list of coveted motorcycles, but it is usually on the list somewhere due to its own heritage and how well it is generally loved. The team at Combined Design breathed on this model a great deal. It now looks like something which has no time and can transcend genres a little. That color is enough to make it sweet - they call it Cherry O.

eBay Find: 1915 Indian Motocycle 3-Speed

This just came up in my eBay search and I thought it might interest some out there. It is a 1915 Indian 3-Speed; I am not up on my Indian Motocycle models, but this machine does now have a 1100c.c. V-twin and it is set up to tour on, believe it or not. The ad states that there are 99,979 miles on it, but I am not sure that is accurate. The price will be high as this is a running example, but it does have several 'incorrect' parts here and there. As of this post, the price was up to US$10,400 and the reserve had not yet been met. Have a look and bid if you have the $$$$.

eBay Find: 1983 Suzuki XN85 Turbo - Very Rare Motorcycle

Only around 1200 of these were made and there are very few still on the road today. The 1983 Suzuki XN85 Turbo is probably the rarest Japanese-made turbo motorcycle from the 80s era. At post time the bidding was up to US$7000 - and that is not bad for such a rare piece of machinery...

Another eBay Find: 1977 Suzuki GS750

While not as high-tech as some other machines from the same decade, this Suzuki is a great motorcycle. It has less than 24,000 miles and still has the manufacturer decal on the chain guard. There is not much information beyond the link or on the eBay sale page, but it still looks nice enough to add to anyone's collection.

Own Neil Young's 1993 Harley-Davidson Fatboy

Yes, that Neil Young! He rode the bike while touring with Pearl Jam in the Northwest USA. The H-D has many aftermarket additions and only 9000 miles on the clock. It did not sell during its first eBay ride, but it is up for sale again with bidding nearing US$10,000 - Buy It Now is at US$40,000. Have a look and place a bid, if you can afford it!

eBay Find: 1963 BSA Thunderbolt for Sale

It's not like these just pop up for sale every day. No, this is a rare machine we have here. The BSA featured here is even more uncommon in that it only has 23,000 miles on the clock and it is a daily rider. It looks as if it has been well taken care of. So, if you are interested in a classic motorcycle which you could ride just about anywhere, take a look:

Jet Turbine Powered Honda Honda Magna

This is certainly a one-of-a-kind machine - you do not see many Boeing T-50 Jet Turbines powering motorcycles. It is actually for sale on eBay if you are interested. Just know that it is thrust powered; the wheels are not attached to the turbine except through the frame. It's only at US$7000!

Great Deal: 2010 ROEHR 1250sc Factory Demo for Sale

The bike was used for demo rides and only has 2,600 miles on the clock. Given the MSRP for this 180HP beast of a machine, US$45,000, the US$19,995 asking price for this demonstration unit is incredible. Own a piece of history for very little $$$. I would, if I could...

Very Rare and Expensive Harley-Davidson KR-TT 750 on eBay

This is far beyond my means - at least now - but it is just such an impressive restoration\find, that I just have to post it here. As you know, H-D motorcycles are already over-priced, but this one is actually worth the money due to its condition and components. You don't see many of these unless you own a museum. Have a look and take out a second mortgage if you think you need it...

1956 Triumph T110 Tiger Custom For Sale on eBay

It is a good custom job and it has been done with the engine and frame of the original motorcycle - a 1956 Triumph T110 Tiger. The engine was re-built by legendary tuner Harry Leinweber and was chromed everywhere! The frame was NOT cut for the modifications, just massaged. It even has rubber isolation between engine and frame for less vibration. I am just scratching the surface of what has been done to this machine. It is certainly worth looking into or - if you have any money - purchasing it.
