You have to look down about two-thirds of the way into the article to see the Pro Stock Motorcycle results, but if you do you will see that Eddie Krawiec managed to take the win on the weekend. Karen Stoffer did finally break the record time at the event, but later problems with holding the line cost her the win. Overall, the weekend was a good one for the drag racers and some new targets have been set for the next round. Take the links to learn more...

Pro Stock Motorcycle NHRA Gatornationals Results
Update from Saturday at the NHRA Gatornationals
Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying went well today - for some riders. Karen Stoffer (who burned the second-fastest run in the history of the event) is at the top of the sheets as of today, with Eddie Krawiec right behind her. In third sits David Hope and behind him is the very skilled Hector Arana. No word on Katie Sullivan, though...The weather was decent for today's runs, but tomorrow is another question. So, these positions could change drastically between today and the final runs tomorrow. It should make for great spectating!

Sullivan Family Racing NHRA Pro Stock Results from Gainesville
Katie Sullivan did not fare too well in today's NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. She had a tough day in the first qualifying round. However, Sullivan and her team will be working to improve the shift action on their Suzuki for tomorrow's racing. I do hope she is able to jump into the running at the top - after all, it's a great story and one which we will remember...

Wednesday Morning Moto News - MV Agusta Buyer? & Gatornationals NHRA
MV Agusta seems to have a few suitors for its long-awaited sale from Harley-Davidson - at least long-awaited by me. BMW is one of the companies interested in the purchase - however, there has been little comment from the German company since the rumor spread. Next, there is a consortium of Italian businesspeople who may also be interested in the purchase. Whoever it is, I truly hope they do not force MV to compromise its designs in the name of short-term profits!

Even MORE Afternoon Moto News - NHRA, XDL & Haiti
The NHRA is changing things up at the zMAX Dragway in North Carolina - they are running four lanes now instead of two. It does sound odd, but it is true, at least for this event. Some like it, some despise it, but it will happen - most people were surprised by the NHRA approval for it in the first place. The event will be held 26 - 28 March 2010.

During the 2010 Daytona Bike Week, the XDL Sportbike Freestyle Championship will be held at Daytona International Speedway during 26 - 28 February. This is the first time that the XDL will make the trip to Florida, believe it or not, and this event will certainly add something more to Bike Week - so much to do and so little time!

Help Haiti! Famed workout freak Jillian Michaels is auctioning off her Troy Lee customized 2007 Yamaha FZ1, with all proceeds going to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Michaels has friends in the nation and traveled there a while back in search of direction for her life, so Haiti is close to her heart. The auction price was up to US$16,000 the last time I checked, so she will be contributing a great deal to the cause. If you want to help, either bid on the bike or make your own donation - there are several charities helping out, find the one you like and give them some cash!

Shock Doctor Helmet Ejection System Now Mandatory in NHRA
For every class and every racer, the National Hot Rod Association has now mandated that all participants use the helmet ejection system from Shock Doctor. It is a very good idea - and something too long in coming - but now we will see it really put to use. The dangers of drag racing can be extreme - especially with Pro Stock Motorcycle - so any safety edge, which does not compromise performance, is very welcome.

Hector Arana Presented With NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship
Hector Arana won 5 of 6 finals and qualified in first place nine times! He takes home check for $75,000 from NHRA and Full Throttle for his Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship. The Buell rider performed very well in the 2009 season and he took home a championship for all of that work. Oh, and no worries about Buell being gone now, the engines they use in Pro Stock Motorcycle are only loosely based on the Milwaukee V-twins. Good luck next year Arana!

Pro Stock Qualifying at Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals
GEICO Powersports Suzuki rider Karen Stoffer managed to take the lead by burning a 6.982 second run at the Auto Club event in California, and no one could better that mark. Andrew Hines of H-D pulled the second fastest run, with Larry Cook only one-hundredth of a second behind him. Current points leader Hector Arana only made it to fifth - and Matt Smith, 2007 Champion, was outside the top 12! Sounds like the season could end with a twist!

45th Annual Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pamona, California
The crowns for all NHRA championships will be presented during 12 - 15 November at the NHRA Finals in Pamona. Pro Stock Motorcycle could see Hector Arana, Eddie Krawiec, or Andrew Hines - even Matt Smith - crowned as 2009 champion at this event. It will be televised on some channels - check your local listings to see if you will be able to see it. Pamona is a historic location for all drag racing events and the final weekend of the 2009 NHRA season will be no different. If you can attend, you must!

NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Saturday Qualifying - Late
For some reason, I cannot find quickly updated NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle News until nearly 36 hours after the events - odd. Anyway, Hector Arana continued his late-season domination and grabbed the number 1 slot for the Sunday race. Hines was second and Nitro Fish rider Matt Smith pulled in at third. Once I get results from Sunday, I will post them here...

Hector Arana Tops Friday Qualifying for Pro Stock Motorcycle
The Ninth Annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals went well for series leader Arana and his Buell team. He was number 1 on the day with a 6.979 at 192.03 - rather good time, but H-D man Andrew Hines and Suzuki-mounted Matt Smith are right behind him. Today had two more qualifying rounds (will post when I receive) and the main will be tomorrow, Sunday, 1 November 2009. This is the 23rd of 24 rounds...

Nitro Fish Suzuki Rider Matt Smith Looking to Get Wins!
The Suzuki NHRA rider, Smith, understands that his best finish in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series ProStock Motorcycle championship is a third place, but he does not plan to let that hamper his performance. He will still push his machine and himself to the limits and grab a win at this weekend's event, the Las Vegas Nationals. Michael Phillips Wins at NHRA Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park
The main events were delayed due to some rather nasty rain, but the rain did not dampen spirits at the event. After six years without a win, Phillips' Suzuki took the win away from Eddie Krawiec's Harley-Davidson. He was quite happy and so were the fans - people love the underdog!

From NHRA Mid-South Nationals in Memphis
It seems that Hector Arana will have the top position in the Pro Stock Motorcycle NHRA races for today. He took the top spot by piloting his Lucas Oil Buell to 6.851 seconds at 195.03 mph in the quarter-mile, which is the fastest time in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle history! If he can run it less than 6.919 seconds, he will claim a new e.t. record run.
