Bostrom and Clark Take WERA Endurance Win in Georgia

Ben Bostrom and Chris Clark piloted their Team Zyvax 2 Yamaha YZF-R1 to victory at the Roebling Road Raceway outside of Savannah, Georgia. They took the win with nine laps in front of the second place team, Team Hooters Apex 2 Suzuki GSX-R600 ridden by James Rispoli and Tim Birdsong. Third place was the other Yamaha team - riding a YZF-R6 - of Dane Westby and Clinton Sellers. It was cold and rainy at the track, but the 15 teams who attended fought the elements and raced against the wind. For all the details, please take the link.

MORE Afternoon Moto News - AMA Supercross Results & Ducati Multistrada 1200

The AMA Supercross Championship held a round in Atlanta this past weekend, but I have yet to post any results from the event. So, now I am addressing that oversight and have placed a link to the results below. Suzuki's Ryan Dungey is again in the points lead for the title. He won the race, and his closest competition in the points, Ryan Villopoto crashed hard while trying to catch him. Dungey is in first overall with Josh Hill and Villopoto in second and third.

Well, we will have to buy the weekly in order to get our hands on the full test, but we do have a nice preview available on the MCN (UK) website on the new 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200. They seem to believe that this bike will change its category and motorcycling in general forever. I am not so sure about that, but it may certainly challenge the big players in the adventure motorcycle class - KTM and BMW. At least you can take a look at the preview video and an another article or two on the new machine.

Long Distance Ace Eddie James Died Last Sunday

He was known very well by the BMW owners in the US, and among Iron Butt participants as well. He participated in many long-distance competitions and usually was in the top 10 - which is rather good. There is much more that he did in his life for motorcycling. He worked at the AMA, he worked with the Ride for Kids, and he has left behind many people who will miss him very much...please take the link and read about him. (Unfortunately, this forum post is the only decent information I can find.)

A Fate From an Adventure - Brammo Across the USA

Nathan Abbott wanted to take a ride - and he was already an adventurer of some note - on a Brammo electric motorcycle from Oregon to his home in Georgia. However, though he had a very lucky life up to this point, that luck ran out (as so many people's luck does once they get to Oregon) in Roseburg, Oregon, where he was struck from behind by a young person driving an Audi. He is in the hospital now and doing better, but he has a very long recovery ahead of him. Take the link, please, and see to it that he gets some help.

Rickey Gadson Captures Ninth Title in AMA Dragbike Series

Though I have not seen much news from the 2009 AMA Dragbike Series, I am well aware of who Rickey Gadson is. He is one of the best motorcycle drag racers on the planet right now. He is fast, he is smart and he is good at what he does. He now has his 9th AMA Dragbike Supersport Championship. That makes him virtually a legend in the series. Have a read...

This Weekend: The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival

The Hilton Head Island Concours (29 - 31 October 2009) also shares an event in Savannah, Georgia - The Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic. It will be held in a newly renovated track at Hutchinson Island on Friday and Saturday. But, on the Thursday before this, there will be a Happy Hour reception for drivers and fans at Johnson Square in Savannah from 5PM until 8PM. The Concours d'Elegance will be held at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Sunday. 150 autos and motorcycles from before 1980 will be on display. Sounds like fun to me...

Small Racing Team Does it Their Own Way - Moto-GT

Out of Augusta, Georgia in the southeastern US, the Augusta Triumph/Ducati team works very hard to be competitive in the series in which they race. They work a little differently than your average US roadracing team, but they get it done! Their Moto-GT1 rider Mark Crozier took the overall points lead at the penultimate round in New Jersey. Check them out...
