Maria Costello to Receive MBE at Buckingham Palace

For all of her work with motorcycles and women in sport, Costello is due to receive her MBE honor on 17 November 2009 at Buckingham Palace. She held the Isle of Man TT female lap record for five years and was the first woman to podium at the historic race. She suffered some rather severe injuries and has only recently come back to racing; she raced in the Manx Grand Prix this year. In 2010, she hopes to regain her TT lap record.
