This comes as quite a shock given the worldwide success of the factory racing effort and the phenomenal YZF-R1, which helped with that effort being praised so much. But, Kajikawa-san said he resigned due to the extreme losses which Yamaha has taken over recent financial quarters. He really should not have left his post for something which is hurting\killing so many companies in this horrid economy. However, his replacement, Tsuneji Togami, will take office until 1 November 2009 and Kajikawa-san will remain as a board member at Yamaha.
