Joel Morris had to sit out most of last season as he did not have a ride in any race series. This season, though, he has landed a chance to ride for the Buildbase team in the 2010 BSB National Superstock 600 Championship. It was his friend Adam Jenkinson who landed him the position. However, Morris could use some more sponsors, so take the link and see if you can help out!

Ben Grindrod, a student in Business & Management Studies, has also secured a ride in the 2010 BSB Superstock 600 series. He will be riding for Seton Interceptor Team on a Yamaha YZF-R6. Grindrod's claim to fame at this early stage in his career is his Gold Medal in the 2009 MRO Junior Stock Sport Championships. He is a gifted young racer who has his whole career in front of him...can't wait to see how he does in 2010!

More Morning Moto News - BSB Rule Changes, James Ellison & Luke Jones
Over in the British Superbike Championship, the people running the series - MotoSport Vision - have changed the rules in order to change how the Championship is awarded. They are trying a new two seasons within one strategy which they hope will build a 'crescendo of competition' by the end of the season. They are also changing how Qualifying is done and how the starting line-up for Race 2 is set. Really, if you are even a casual fan of the series, this is something you must read.

Exactly why James Ellison is out of a ride for the 2010 season is a mystery to me. I do understand how he got to this point, but I do not understand why no one would want to hire the man who placed second in last year's BSB series. He has skill to spare and the desire to win every race - someone had better hire him soon or their competitors will and they will take the title!

Luke Jones is not having a hard time finding a team. The second runner-up in the BSB Superstock 600 class in 2009 will now ride for PR Racing in the 2010 BSB Championship. He will continue racing a Yamaha, moving from an R6 to and R1 for his new position.

Tuseday Afternoon and More Moto News - Paul Whibley and BSB Superstock
Paul Whibley, a New Zealander, has been on a winning path for a long time now, and they say he may be the hottest off-road racer in the US. He has now decided to join Randy Hawkins-run AmPro Yamaha Team and will ride a WR450F in the 2010 GNCC series. His teammates will be Barry Hawk and Thad DuVall. This is interesting news, to say the least, and he might be trying to find another few championships...

Over in the BSB Superstock Championships, the Metzeler Racetec Interact will be used as the control tire for this incredibly competitive series. It is a very well-constructed tire and should only improve the quality of the racing. Given the huge number of already legendary motorcycle road racers who will be looking for the title this year in that series, 2010 is going to be one hell of a good season!

Apparently, Valentino Rossi had to be rushed to the hospital on Thursday (14 January 2010) for pain in his abdomen. The reports say that he had an inflamed appendix, but there is no information on how it was treated. (In the US, they would operate and take it out for safety.) However, it does appear that his ride in the Ferrari F1 car is still on.

Jamie Hamilton Takes BSB Superstock 600 Title for 2009
The Gearlink Kawasaki team in the British Superbike Championship Superstock 600 series has taken the first title for Kawasaki Motors UK since 1992 when they won the British Superbike Championship. Hamilton did not finish the race, but the disqualification of rider Luke Mossey - thus scoring no points in the race - allowed Hamilton to take the Championship!
