More Afternoon Moto News - Aprilia and BSB & Alastair Seeley's NW200

Aprilia has also announced that they will be in the 2010 BSB Evo Championship. That makes it eight manufacturers participating in the series - a nice, large number of variety. The Splitlath Motorsport team will be campaigning their machines with riders (and brothers) Chris and Joe Burns. That makes some 32 riders on the BSB grid, with 12 of them competing in the new Evo series. (This may be a repeat post, but it is a new article.)

Alistair Seeley may not be able to race in the North West 200 Superbike class this year. We all know that long-time fan favorite Stuart Easton will be returning to the event, but leaving Seeley out of the premier race will make it less of a special event. For now, Seeley's team will be talking with the organizers of the event to see if they can get him into the proper classes at the 15 May 2010 event.

Wednesday Afternoon Moto News - BMW and BSB & Tom Sykes

BMW has announced that they have teamed up with Jentin Racing to compete in the National 1000 Superstock with Richard Cooper and in the BSB Evo series with rider Steve Brogan. All parties are quite happy with the arrangement and it looks like BMW will be racing their S1000RR against the best in the world on at least four continents.

Tom Sykes is very happy with his new Kawasaki World Superbike Team, and Paul Bird Motorsport, so far. He will be competing on the World stage very soon and feels that the Kawasaki team has what it will take to get him to the top. Sykes has some strong competition, though, so even doing very well may not be enough...

Friday Morning Moto News - KTM to BSB, Aprilia and BMW & Jakub Smrz

KTM will be fielding one of their new RC8 race machines in the Evo Class of the British Superbike Championship in 2010. This is all thanks to Redline Motorcycles and their rider James Edmeades. This brings the number of manufacturers participating in BSB up to a respectable six! Impressive and it will make the racing all the more fun.

And, more: http://tinyurl.com/yd3yurq

Aprilia and BMW will both have teams in the British Superstock class in 2010. There are some rumors that the bikes being used for this BSB series are putting up some impressive numbers ahead of the season. Does this mean that the other teams will simply wilt away and let them win? Not going to happen! Both Aprilia and BMW have incredible new machines and they want to get them out an prove their prowess - the BSB Superstock series is a good place to do this...especially on your way to Superbike competition.

http://tinyurl.com/ygdboox

Jakub Smrz is convinced that his new B&G Racing team will be competitive in the World Superbike paddock. Though this story is quite complex - teams joining other teams, changing and then not changing marques, new sponsors, etc. - it is simpler just to know that Smrz will be riding a Ducati in WSBK on the PATA B&G Racing team. More Morning Moto News - BMW Canada & Moto Rapido Ducati

BMW Motorrad Canada has signed Rush HD as a sponsor for their two rider team in the Canadian Superbike Championship. The deal comes as good news in this economic environment and will help BMW to field a very strong team. Francis Martin and Michael Ferreira, the two riders, have the weight of the factory and their new sponsor on their backs as they compete in the 2010 series...it won't be easy, but I am certain that they will enjoy the challenge.

Moto Rapido Ducati has finally finished assembling their team for the assault on the BSB Superstock 1000 Championship. Youngster Leon Hunt has signed an agreement to race alongside Scott Smart on the Ducati team. Smart, of course, will contest the Superbike Evo class on a similar machine. Two big pieces from the Aprilia World Superbike team. First up is a short piece on Max Biaggi and his work so far for the Aprilia team; it even has a few words from Leon Camier, his teammate.

And, a video: http://tinyurl.com/yllnquv

Karl Harris has manged to get himself on a team for the BSB Superstock 1000 series. It was a very last-minute deal and it took some work on the part of his team and himself, but they will be fielding an Aprilia in the BSB series for 2010. This group did win a title about six years ago, so they have the experience and knowledge to make it work. Keep and eye on Harris in 2010.

More Morning Moto News - Dr. Frazier, Richard Rea & Oulton Park

Dr. Gregory Frazier is now in Laos. If you have not been following his writings over the last several months, simply know that he is on an epic tour through Asia and has already produced at least four articles on his long journeys around the continent - and there are surely more to come. Of course, he is doing most of it on two-wheels, so you will certainly find his stories entertaining even if you do not know who he is...

Jonathan Rea's younger brother, Richard Rea, will now be adding to the list of Rea's who have entered into the British Superbike Championship. Richard will be riding a Honda CBR1000RR (Fireblade) for MB Motorsports in the BSB Superstock 1000 class. He was recently injured, but is recovering well and practicing in Spain. David Paton has signed on to race in the Scottish Championship along with the BSB Superstock 1000 class in 2010. He was lucky as he now has BMW support for his efforts in each series. They will be using the all-new S1000RR to compete in all races - and they are extremely excited about their chances. Again, another rider to watch in 2010.

More Morning Moto News - MSS Colchester & Silverstone

MSS Colchester Kawasaki is due to have a very busy 2010. They will be competing in the BSB Championship, the National Superstock Championship and the Isle of Man TT. The will have at least four riders and will also be developing technology in conjunction with the Paul Bird WSBK team. They will not have much time to relax, but it will certainly give them a chance to take home some titles and learn enough to give them a chance at each and every round.

http://tinyurl.com/yhrpdvv

The Silverstone track is just about ready to host racing at the track. They have made some improvements - some major, others minor - which should lead to a very fast and challenging circuit for the various series which will grace their paddock. The MotoGP round will certainly keep everyone's eyes glued to the event as they try to see if the new track is fast enough for those professionals...

Tuseday Afternoon and More Moto News - Paul Whibley and BSB Superstock

Paul Whibley, a New Zealander, has been on a winning path for a long time now, and they say he may be the hottest off-road racer in the US. He has now decided to join Randy Hawkins-run AmPro Yamaha Team and will ride a WR450F in the 2010 GNCC series. His teammates will be Barry Hawk and Thad DuVall. This is interesting news, to say the least, and he might be trying to find another few championships...

Over in the BSB Superstock Championships, the Metzeler Racetec Interact will be used as the control tire for this incredibly competitive series. It is a very well-constructed tire and should only improve the quality of the racing. Given the huge number of already legendary motorcycle road racers who will be looking for the title this year in that series, 2010 is going to be one hell of a good season!

Saturday Moto News - Blackhorse Kawasaki and Valentino Rossi

Team Blackhorse Kawasaki - Ian Lougher's Kawasaki team - has now signed David Pearce and re-signed Conor Cummins for the 2010 British Superbike Season. Pearce will contest the Junior 600 Superstock class for his first foray into BSB racing, and Cummins will continue in the Superstock 1000 class (Cummins will also continue riding for the McAdoo Racing team in 'real roads' events). Lougher has put together a great team and we will benefit from the challenging racing...

Apparently, Valentino Rossi had to be rushed to the hospital on Thursday (14 January 2010) for pain in his abdomen. The reports say that he had an inflamed appendix, but there is no information on how it was treated. (In the US, they would operate and take it out for safety.) However, it does appear that his ride in the Ferrari F1 car is still on.

More Thursday Morning Moto Racing News - Kawasaki, Donington and Lowry

MSS Colchester Kawasaki has signed 22-year-old Howie Mainwaring for the 2010 BSB National Superstock Championship. He has a great deal of experience in other BSB series and had good results. With his new team, though, he now has factory backing. That makes him dangerous - in a good way! The Superstock series is full of top-notch talent and you will not want to miss the 2010 season - it will be tough.

http://tinyurl.com/ycul796

Now we hear from the owner of Donington Park, Kevin Wheatcroft, that he is hoping to have the lease sold to someone new by the end of January 2010. That would be good news, and I very much hope he is right, as the track is close to being in the past-tense. They already have a short list (14) of entities interested, so it just might happen!

http://tinyurl.com/yczomho

Ian Lowry may have finally found a home for the 2010 British Superbike Championship at Hydrex Honda - joining fellow racer Stuart Easton. Since Relentless Suzuki has already solidified their team, he has no choice but to look elsewhere and this team is a very good match for his talent.

Steve Plater to Race in British Superstock in 2010

Plater won the British Supersport title in 2009 and now will move on to Superstock in 2010 for a new challenge. His teammate on the HM Plant Honda team will be well-known TT ace John McGuinness, so it will at least be an interesting team to watch. Two great riders on a great race bike - why would you miss it?

Chris Burns to Ride in BSB Superstock 1000 with Splitlath Motorsport

Burns has managed to get himself on board a Splitlath Motorsport prepared Aprilia RSV-4. He will compete within the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship, which runs in conjunction with the British Superbike Championship. Oh, and apparently, his younger brother Joe Burns will also compete on the team. (Sorry, linked article is a little hard to translate.)

Relentless Suzuki Is Taking Alistair Seeley to British Superbike

Relentless Suzuki will maintain the same team which brought Seeley the 2009 BSB Superstock 1000 championship, but they will be competing in British Superbikes in 2010. He did run a BSB Evo spec Suzuki in the last two rounds of the BSB Championship in 2009, and finished in the top ten. So, he has already seen much of the competition and believes he is ready to compete at that level.

Craig Beggs to Race in British Suprstock 1000 Series in 2010

For Beggs, it was not a good 2009. He spent some of it on the track in 2009, but it all ended in May and he missed five months of racing. Well, he has a team - Neil Beckett Racing - and a bike - Honda CBR1000RR - so his 2010 is shaping up to be much, much better.

Ian Lougher Joins with Kawasaki for Isle of Man TT

We already know that he is now on his way to Australia for the Kings of Wanneroo event, but this is even better news. We also know Lougher was already set to ride for Team Blackhorse Kawasaki in the British Superbike Superstock 1000 Championship. Now, the Blackhorse team will also be competing in the Isle of Man TT and Lougher will lead that effort. It seems that he will also run in some other racing events - I assume also in BSB - using both the Ninja ZX-6R and ZX-10R...A man on a racing mission!

Ian Lougher Joins with Kawasaki for BSB Superstock 1000 Series

Next season, under the banner of Team Blackhorse Kawasaki, multiple Isle of Man TT winner Lougher will contest the British Superbike Superstock 1000 Championship. He will be teamed up with two as yet unnamed riders and race for the top spot on the podium. Lougher certainly has the skill and talent to make this team a championship effort...
