AMA Supercross Dallas Results & Steele Creek GNCC Bike Results

Two off-road racing results today...finally! First up is the Dallas, Texas, round of the 2010 AMA Supercross, which went off this past Saturday (20 March 2010). This was the first time that the Supercross circus stopped in Cowboys stadium and Suzuki's Ryan Dungey made it one to remember. Dungey led every lap from the start and is now 24 points ahead of Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto who finished just off the podium in fourth. The next event is this Saturday in Florida.

In the 2010 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country series, the recent stop was in North Carolina at Steele Creek. The weather started off nice early, but then a steady rain started to drench every square exposed inch. In that event, Suzuki-mounted Josh Strang again took the win. This is his third win in a row! Alex Gobert's Racing Insider & CMRA's Dustin Dominguez

Dustin Dominguez is now an expert road racer using his talents to contest the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association' s 2010 championship series. He may not be there for long, though, especially after this past weekend. He took his own Kawasaki ZX-6R and a borrowed Suzuki SV650 to seven - yes, 7 - victories at Eagle's Canyon Raceway in Texas. Brammo to Work With Jackie Chan & AMA Supercross Toronto Results

Jackie Chan's company JCAM Advanced Mobility Company Ltd., based in Hong Kong, has signed up to distribute the Brammo electric motorcycles in Hong Kong and Singapore. The deal is certainly a solid one as Jackie Chan has the star power to really bring in the customers. Plus, both Hong Kong and Singapore are perfect locations for electric motorcycle ownership - both have very little land area and rather tight roads and streets (in HK, you could probably ride the Brammo from one side of the island to the other three times without needing to charge it!) plus they are both very congested and polluted. They should sell very well there...too bad they didn't hire me for the job!

The AMA Supercross event in Toronto was broadcast on TV this weekend and it was a great race. Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Ryan Villopoto turned in an impressive performance and took the win - putting him even closer to Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, who still holds the points lead and finished third in Toronto behind Red Bull Honda's Trey Canard. Sunday Afternoon Moto News - AMA Supercross & GNCC Results

At Daytona Bike Week, attendees have the chance to experience just about any form of motorcycling they wish to. Of course, the racing is one of the more important items on anyone's list, and the AMA Supercross race is always a good choice for entertaining racing with some of the world's best off-road racers. In this round, class rookie Ryan Villopoto. He led the race from start to finish on his Monster Kawasaki, dominating the proceedings. In the Supercross Lites East, Christophe Pourcel conquered the 250cc class.

MORE Afternoon Moto News - AMA Supercross Results & Ducati Multistrada 1200

The AMA Supercross Championship held a round in Atlanta this past weekend, but I have yet to post any results from the event. So, now I am addressing that oversight and have placed a link to the results below. Suzuki's Ryan Dungey is again in the points lead for the title. He won the race, and his closest competition in the points, Ryan Villopoto crashed hard while trying to catch him. Dungey is in first overall with Josh Hill and Villopoto in second and third.

Well, we will have to buy the weekly in order to get our hands on the full test, but we do have a nice preview available on the MCN (UK) website on the new 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200. They seem to believe that this bike will change its category and motorcycling in general forever. I am not so sure about that, but it may certainly challenge the big players in the adventure motorcycle class - KTM and BMW. At least you can take a look at the preview video and an another article or two on the new machine.

Thursday Afternoon Moto News - The Electric Confusion & PINK AMA Supercross

Mark Gardiner has done a great job of covering the stink between the TTXGP and the Isle of Man - with their TT Zero race. As you may already know, the Isle of Man race organizers switched away from Azhar Hussain's race series, the TTXGP, to their own version which they call the TT Zero. There is a great deal which went on behind the scenes when this decision was made. Well, we read that the Kawasaki 24-hour charity ride for the Cure was a success; we also heard that the AMA Supercross race held the next day was also used to bring in some money in the fight against Breast Cancer - they raised over US$27,000! Sunday Afternoon Moto News - Anaheim III Supercross

The third and final AMA Supercross race in Anaheim, California, went off yesterday and may have changed a few things. First of all Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto took the victory in a convincing way by leading the entire race. Second place was Yamaha man Josh Hill. In the Western Lites class, Honda-mounted Trey Canard proved himself worthy by taking the victory and moving into second place overall. In the premier class, Suzuki's Ryan Dungey has now welcomed another rider into a tie for first place - and that would be Josh Hill. Davi Millsaps had apparently been unknowingly taking a supplement with Creatine in it (it is NOT a banned substance in this or many other sports). This caused the Honda rider some problems with his racing. Now that he is no longer using it he is doing much better. This could lead to a better AMA Supercross season...with so many injured...we will see...

On the Honda AMA Supercross team, GEICO Powersports Honda West Series Lites rider Trey Canard will fill in for Honda Red Bull Racing’s Andrew Short at select Supercross races. Short was injured at the San Diego round and will be out for at least six weeks. So, Canard's experience and close ties to the team allowed him to take the available seat on the CRF450R. Tyler Bowers has six victories in eight races, with five of them consecutive, in the 2010 AMA Arenacross series. His Kawasaki has been rock solid through the five rounds so far (some are double-headers) and will be in fine shape for the next round in Youngstown, Ohio, in Covellie Centre. Barrows is the man to beat in the premier class, but there are three local guys who will give him a very hard time at this round...

The USGPRU has announced that they are raising the value of the race purse for the 2010 season. They are doing this to encourage more people to participate in the series. With the economy only slowly recovering, they needed to do something to keep the competitors interested in participating. It should go a long way to improve the racing and should help to bring in the crowds!

More Afternoon Moto News - Kevin Curtain, AMA Supercross & American Chopper

Australian Kevin Curtain has decided to race a Yamaha in the Australian Formula Xtreme Superstock 600 and Superstock 1000 classes. He was runner-up in both 2005 and 2006 in the World Supersport Championship on a Yamaha YZF-R6, so he has the experience. Curtain will also compete in the WSS round at Phillip Island.

The AMA Supercross event took place over the weekend in San Diego, California. It was a wet race, but one which saw Honda's Davi Millsaps take his first win in two years of racing. Suzuki racer Ryan Dungey does hold on to his lead in the series even after falling some two times in the opening lap. The next event will be 13 February 2010 in Anaheim (third and final visit there).

Thursday Evening Moto News - Team Suzuki Motocross & Norton Commando Cafe Racer SE

It's actually Team Suzuki City and they have three riders - Steven Clarke and Matt Lemoine competing in the East Coast Lites Supercross series and the AMA Outdoor Lites Championship, and Sherri Cruse will contest the AMA Women's Motocross Championships. The team has been around for three years now and they even have a sponsorship deal with Nitro Circus. 2010 will have good off-road racing as well!

At the MCN London Motorcycle Show - go ahead, guess where it is - the newly constituted Norton released their new 2010 Norton Commando Cafe Racer Special Edition (maybe not correct nomenclature). It is a lovely machine and customers can custom order - changing the finish, suspension, wheels and much more. It is not even all that expensive given the work. David Paton has signed on to race in the Scottish Championship along with the BSB Superstock 1000 class in 2010. He was lucky as he now has BMW support for his efforts in each series. They will be using the all-new S1000RR to compete in all races - and they are extremely excited about their chances. Again, another rider to watch in 2010.

Sunday Morning Moto News - NZ Superbike & AMA Supercross

Again this weekend, Andrew Stroud and Robbie Bugden shared victories at the NZ Superbike Championship round at Levels Raceway. In the 600c.c. category, James Smith is dominating proceedings and took a 2 - 1 in this weekend's two events. This means that it could all come down to the final event - the fifth round - before we know who the champions are in this series...very good racing!

The San Francisco AMA Supercross round is over now and we have a new winner this season; Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto has now won his first Supercross race. In the West Lites Class, Honda's Trey Canard led the event from start to finish to take his first win of the year as well. Saturday Evening Moto News - James Stewart & Hopper

It turns out that the injury which James Stewart took at the Phoenix AMA Supercross round. The x-rays missed a broken bone in his hand, but an MRI picked it up. So, he must undergo surgery soon and Dr. Arthur Ting, well-known sports surgeon, completed the surgery on Friday. Stewart could be out for six weeks!

It is FINALLY official; John Hopkins has signed with Team Hammer to campaign their M4 Monster Suzuki GSX-R1000. He has done it a few times before, and the field is much more limited than usual. It looks like Hopper will pick up another Championship in Daytona SportBike - could happen, right?

At the recent AMA Supercross event in Anaheim, California, MSR used the race to show off a line of motorcycle apparel which they will sell in 2011. Riders Kevin Windham and Nick Wey were sporting the gear at the event, but only some of the items which will be available. The MSR company is well-known for producing excellent off-road riding gear and it seems like they will only be upping their reputation when this new equipment starts being sold to the public.

Victory has released details on the 2010 Vegas Limited Edition which was debuted at the New York Cycle World International Motorcycle Show. It is the quickest bike that Victory has ever made with the 106/6 engine fitted with Stage 2 cams; that brings it to 97 hp and 113 ft-lb of torque. Only 100 of the US$15,999 motorcycle will be made in Fire Ball Red, Competition Yellow, Pearl White or Turbo Silver.

And, we have results from the AMA Supercross round at Anaheim this weekend. It is Anaheim 2 as there are two events at the same location. Suzuki-mounted Ryan Dungey took victory in this event and is slowly cementing his name on the Supercross Championship as one of the best. Yamaha man James Stewart finished in third, with Josh Hill taking the second position.
