Thursday Afternoon Moto News - BMW R1200RT, Keith Code and the Mobility Conquest

The new 2010 BMW R1200RT has had some extra power on tap, and some minor upgrades including the new ESA2 remotely adjustable suspension system. MCN (UK) is in Spain at the press launch and they have been very impressed with the new engine character so far. And, they have at least 600 miles on it now. A full review will be available soon.

Keith Code's California Superbike School is now running with BMW S1000RR machines, so they are selling their used Kawasaki ZX-6Rs. All 16 of them are up for sale right now, 15 of them at US$4500 with new tires, and one special ZX-6R, which was for Keith Code himself and has many upgrades, for US$7000. Check it out, a used bike can still be new to you!

And, just a quick note that the Mobility Conquest, a BMW-based motorcycle which allows people stuck in a wheelchair to ride a bike, will be on display at Cycle World's International Motorcycle Show at the Cleveland I-X Center this 29 - 31 January 2010. It will be the first time to see one in the US!

MSS Colchester Kawasaki Signs Tony Coombs to Race in MRO Stocksport Championship

Yep, MSS Colchester is supporting U.K. club racing - in hopes, of course, that their new signing will move up. Coombs did very well in the Thundersport MRO Supersport 600 Championship, so they are going to take him in and put him on a Kawasaki ZX-6R to race in the Stocksport series and some wildcard rides in the Metzeler National Superstock, which runs with the BSB series.

Ben Attard Takes His Kawasaki to Third Place in Australian Supersport

I figure that man people will want to know how Ben Attard did in Australia, so here we go. He raced in the finale at Phillip Island and brought home a 6th and 9th place to secure his overall 3rd place in the 2009 Australian Supersport Championship. Overall, a very good year for the rider. His teammate, Kevin Curtain, who rides in the Australian Superbike Championship, ended the year in 9th place overall; a DNF in the second race at Phillip Island sealed his position there.

Longshot Racing Enters BSB Superstock 600 Championship in 2010

They have put together a team and are now preparing the Kawasaki ZX-6R for racing in 2010. The National Superstock 600 Championship is run in conjunction with the British Superbike Championship. Longshot Bikebits4you.com Kawasaki Racing, as it is known, already has two of three riders signed up and ready. Brad Anderson and Josh Wainwright will be racing for them. Most of this came together during the 2009 season...

Big Chnages Ahead for Irish Racer Michael Pearson

He had a very good 2009 in the racing series consisting of mostly real roads - not tracks. He won the Cock O’ the North race and took top honors again at the season finale, Killalane Road Races. He did ride both Yamaha and Honda in 2009, but for 2010 he will be on a Kawasaki - thanks to his sponsor and MSS Kawasaki. He's on his way up!

Ian Lougher Joins with Kawasaki for Isle of Man TT

We already know that he is now on his way to Australia for the Kings of Wanneroo event, but this is even better news. We also know Lougher was already set to ride for Team Blackhorse Kawasaki in the British Superbike Superstock 1000 Championship. Now, the Blackhorse team will also be competing in the Isle of Man TT and Lougher will lead that effort. It seems that he will also run in some other racing events - I assume also in BSB - using both the Ninja ZX-6R and ZX-10R...A man on a racing mission!
