British Superbike Rider News

The British Superbike Championship season begins in a few weeks - over the Easter weekend - and many teams have been in Spain testing. If you have been reading the reports you will know that just about every rider in the series was at the Gaudix circuit over this past weekend. This past week had the BSB riders rounding the turns at Brands Hatch in yet another preseason test. Well, there are still stories coming in from the test, so I will post some of them here for you to read at your leisure...

Neil Hodgson survives a terrible crash in California - just about a year ago - to come back to race again. Hodgson is an incredible competitor and will not back down from a challenge. Well, this year's challenge is the BSB season: http://tinyurl.com/yfslbcj

Hodgson to Launch Motorpoint BSB Team & SA Superbikes

On 26 March 2010, World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson will be launching the Motorpoint Yamaha British Superbike Team in the town of Derby. Hodgson has been picked to win the BSB championship this season and he will be teamed with another great rider in Dan Linfoot. They will be riding Yamaha YZF-R1 machine very close to the Leon Camier's championship winning machine of last year. For all the details, please take the link.

In the South African Superbike championship races, which were held at the Killarney Circuit, were a very close affair. The top five qualifiers were only .75 second apart, so you knew it would be tight. However, no one expected it to be as close as it was. Honda's Lance Isaacs had the best weekend - overall - but Aprilia's Sheridan Morais, Honda's Greg Gildenhuys and Dan Hellyer were all close to the leaders in each of the two races - very close! In 600 Supersport Yamaha's Dylan White had a great 1 - 1 finish on the weekend. For the very detailed finishing order, please take the link.

Neil Hodgson is starting to like the way his race machine feels - this after some seven days of testing in Spain at two different locations. Motorpoint Yamaha has been working hard to give him the mount he needs to be competitive. His teammate Dan Linfoot is also expected to do very well this year. But, if Hodgson does come to terms with the sweet R1 he is racing, everyone else must take care and keep their eyes open - Hodgson is heading for the win!

More Morning Moto News - Inmotec MotoGP, Ultimate Racing & Neil Hodgson

The Inmotec squad has just finished 12 days of testing on the MotoGP race bike and is ready to enter the MotoGP Championship this season. It all sounds like good news, and they will be the first Spanish manufacturer to enter the World Championship. They will only participate in some rounds of the series, but they will be there - and that is saying something!

Ultimate Racing, and their rider Peter Hickman, are moving up to the big show in 2010, the British Superbike Championship. Last season they came in second overall in the BSB Cup series, and they hope to use that experience to get them into the top 10 finishers in their new class. Wish them luck!

It looks like Neil Hodgson will be getting support from Chase Templeton, a medical insurer based on the Isle of Man. They will support his effort in the 2010 British Superbike Championship. They should be very happy with their advertising scheme - everyone watches Hodgson!

Neil Hodgson and Dan Linfoot Finish Testing at Almeria

The Motorpoint Yamaha duo finished up testing for their British Superbike Championship run in 2010. Both riders had a very productive test and gained some valuable experience - and data - for their push next season. It's likely these two will be dangerous...

He is back! Hodgson will be racing a Rob Mac Racing-prepared Yamaha YZF-R1 in the 2010 British Superbike Championship for Motorpoint. He is about to go to his first test for his new team and he is more than ready to get out on the track and start to work. That's the mark of a champion for you...

Hodgson and Linfoot to Test Yamaha YZF-R1 at Almeria Next Month

Neil Hodgson will make his first appearance on the Motorpoint R1 at the Spanish Almeria circuit in December. Dan Linfoot will be there as well. They both have to get used to a slightly different machine, so the testing will certainly be useful. Both racers are looking forward to the testing laps with the new bike.

Racing Business Never Ends - Even in the Off-Season

So, much of what is contained in the linked article is just a round-up of recent news from teh MotoGP, Moto2, and World Superbike paddock. So, it will be a quick read for many. This Week in Motorcycle Racing History - Road Racer X Speed Dating

There are several important birthdays this week! It is hard to believe, but something much come from being born in November in the motorcycle racing world. Soichiro Honda would have been 102 on Tuesday. Others include Yoann Tiberio, Kurtis Roberts, Tom Kipp, Helmut Bradl, Akira Tamitsuji, Jimmy Filice, Steve Rapp, Tom Halverson, Eric Bostrom, Neil Hodgson, Alvaro Bautista, Scott Parker, Dave Molyneux, Joan Olive, and - finally - Lukas Pesek. That's some serious racing cred and some interesting history plus some up-and-coming talents as well. It must be something about the cold...or being in your mother's womb during the summer...

Rob McElnea and Neil Hodgson Will Do Great Things in BSB Championship

So, some people thought it would be impossible for Hodgson and 'Rob Mac' to come together for the 2010 British Superbike Championship. Both of them have seen their share of championships in the past, and Hodgson is doing the right thing by leaving the AMA/DMG race series in the US (as it is dying slowly) and taking the reins of a Yamaha YZF-R1 with the Motorpoint team of McElnea. The two of them are very hungry for wins and a championship, so we will see some interesting racing in the BSB series 2010.

Hodgson's New Teammate to be Dan Linfoot in BSB for 2010

Dan Linfoot had an impressive 2009, but he was hampered by an injury. That, eventually, led to him being moved up to the Superbike class for the final two rounds of 2009. In 2010, he will join with Neil Hodgson on the Motorpoint Yamaha team in British Superbike. Being a young racer, he will surely learn from Hodgson; it will be good for Linfoot's career.

Confirmed: Neil Hodgson Will Return to British Superbike in 2010

Great news to Hodgson fans everywhere - he will be racing for Motorpoint Yamaha in the British Superbike Championship. He has taken both the BSB and WSBK Championship previously, but don't think he feels finished. He will be at the front of the pack in 2010 as well - fighting for the championship as you would expect. Good luck Hodgson! It will be a good year in BSB...

Neil Hodgson Looks to Return to BSB Series in 2010

It may be the end of his career as well, but he always said that he wanted to finish it out in Britain. SO, since the Corona Honda team folded, he has been in the U.K. talking with many different teams about a return to action in British Superbike for 2010.

What Will Happen With AMA/DMG Pro Racing in 2010?

Well, that is the US64,000 question, isn't it? Honda has pulled out, Mladin has retired, no TV rights have been agreed to yet and we have only a few riders under contract for next year's series...Looks like DMG really messed this up. Someone, please tell them that motorcycle racing is not NASCAR!

Bad Move for Honda - They Will Exit AMA Pro Racing

I cannot say that I blame them given the circumstances; AMA Pro Racing is very different from any other national motorcycle racing series in the world. However, I do not applaud the way they have parted ways with the Corona team and Neil Hodgson. It would be better for them to continue supporting them, but do it at less than a factory level - many manufacturers have done this before. The current ownership of the AMA Pro Racing series needs to seriously re-consider its current path, though. They are loosing many fans...

National Geographic Channel to Air Motorcycle Crash Documentary

This - again - came via a post from one of my fellow Team Oregon instructors. The documentary will air on Thursday, 17 September 2009, in the US market. It also features some of the greatest racers in history talking about what goes through their minds when they crashed...the photography/filming is alone enough reason to watch this hour-long show on NGTV.

Neil Hodgson was wondering around the Croft paddock at the BSB races this weekend. While he was there, he was asked some questions about his future and he very seriously spoke of returning to the United Kingdom to race in the series...
