J.D. Beach and Cameron Beaubier will both be racing for Rockwall Honda in the AMA Pro Racing SuperSport East series. Both riders are still quite young, but they both also have many years of experience already. This pairing should be a powerhouse team in the SuperSport class. During the World Superbike qualifying at Phillip Island in Australia, Shane Byrne crashed hard and hurt his back. It is so severe that it may keep him out of this weekend's racing at the track. He was chasing Checa at the time, so he was certainly pushing himself. Let's hope he gets some rest and gets back in the saddle before Sunday!

From Alpinestars we get another preview of what to expect this weekend at Phillip Island. I am only posting this one because it is a bit different from the others. So, if you want some entertaining words about your favorite sport, please take the link.

Peyton Sassaman will be taking his Harley-Davidson sponsored Yamaha YZF-R6 to the WERA National Challenge Series. He will also take on select rounds of the AMA Pro SuperSport and the ASRA/CCS series. He is a former dirt-track AMA Amateur National Champion and WERA Lightweight Superstock National Champion, so his resume puts him right where he should be, but what's next? Wait and see...

OK, for those that do not know, A4DE is the Australian 4-Day Enduro and it takes place 8 - 11 April 2010 in Portland, NSW. Yamaha Australia has gained the prime sponsorship for the event and has naming rights. Everything seems to be coming together for the race now, and it is looking like it will be even better this year. So, pay attention and plan to attend - if you will be close enough to do so!

Italian moto mag Motociclismo has gotten their hands on some photos of the upcoming FZ8, otherwise referred to as the Fazer 8. We saw some early shots previously, but nothing like the collection here. Now, will it arrive on US shores? No one knows at present...

2010 AMA/DMG Pro Racing Schedule Released - Big Changes
There will only be nine rounds in next year's AMA Pro Racing series. The biggest change, though, will be no AMA racing at Laguna Seca's Red Bull USGP. In fact, the AMA series will not visit to Laguna next year. Every race except the Daytona opener will be a double-header, but that still makes for a relatively short year for the riders. This is subject to change, of course, as they may add one more date. But, I have no idea how Laguna will be able to have their normal USGP weekend with only one race, though...

Yamaha Motor USA Redirects Racing Effort in the US
There is not much of a change here. Yamaha will continue to partner with L&M Racing in the Supercross and Motocross classes; James Stewart and the new 2010 YZ450F will continue to race in the series. Also, Graves Motorsports will assume greater control over the AMA road racing effort, but Yamaha will still be there to support them. Read the PR for yourself...

Results from 2009 AMA Pro SuperSport Shootout
Well, local rider Josh Day may have qualified on pole for the race, but he was passed on the last lap on the final corner by Leandro Mercado - all of 17 years-old. He took the title and the SuperSport National Championship #1 plate. The Attack Kawasaki rider was out of action for much of the season due to the ubiquitous US visa issues common among foreign racers, unfortunately. So, for Mercado, this is an incredible accomplishment!

Qualifying Results from Daytona International Speedway - Moto-GT, AMA SuperSport National
First of all, a local guy - Josh Day on the Team E.S.P. Yamaha - to the Daytona track took the pole position in the AMA Pro SuperSport National race. The race does not award points but it does award a number 1 plate for the nation. Any AMA SuperSport competitor is allowed to run and plenty of good racers from all over are in attendance. Sunday will see the race and that final championship for the 2009 AMA SuperSport season.

And, over in the Moto-GT series, Josh Hayes has decided to run a Westby Racing Yamaha R6 along with teammates Jeff Wood, Dane Westby and Dustin Meador. He was in town anyway to be with his wife, Melissa Paris, as she is set to compete at the Fall Cycle Scene Championship Cup Series - she has just returned from injury. Well, Hayes took pole for Sunday's race in the GT1 class. Martin Cardenas is right behind him on the Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R600. Over in GT2 Barrett Long took the pole position on the KRM Racing by Motocorse Ducati PS1000LE after he was only asked to ride this morning!

More Reason to Question How DMG is Running AMA Pro Racing
It seems there are still some questions about the officiating in AMA Pro Racing. People hoping for change in the ranks got much less than they hoped for, unfortunately. Someone at DMG needs to take a look at the series and do a very hard think!

What Will Happen With AMA/DMG Pro Racing in 2010?
Well, that is the US64,000 question, isn't it? Honda has pulled out, Mladin has retired, no TV rights have been agreed to yet and we have only a few riders under contract for next year's series...Looks like DMG really messed this up. Someone, please tell them that motorcycle racing is not NASCAR!
