Just Lovely! Ducati Teams with Edelweiss - Ducati Travel Experience World

The Ducati Travel Experience World (DTEW) is premiering at just the right time. The 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 is debuting to the world all over and Ducati decided to hook up with Edelweiss Bike Travel to create a special tour series using that lovely machine (I hate to admit it, but I desire one myself...). There are four tours which cover parts of Africa, Australia, Europe and the Western USA. Kenya's 2010 Africa Concours d'Elegance Announced

The AccessKenya Group, a successful local public IT company, has announced that it will again support the 2010 Africa Concours d'Elegance. It will be held on 26 September 2010 at the Nairobi Racecourse in - where else? - Nairboi, Kenya. The Alfa Romeo Owners Club will be hosting the 40th Concours d' Elegance and will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the auto manufacturer (founded 1910). Vehicles will be entered into one of 12 automobile or eight motorcycle classes. The event is heavily attended, so make your plans early and get your accommodations arranged. Oh, and don't forget to bring your sunglasses...

More Friday Morning Moto News - Rossi, Aprilia and Charley Boorman

As if we did not already know this - if you are a fan and you pay attention at all, this is common knowledge - an article is stating that Valentino Rossi would rather race in the World Rally Championship than take a seat in Formula 1. They just keep asking him the same questions over and over again, and it never seems to annoy him. Rossi is a respectful guy and we may yet see him behind the wheel of a WRC car within the next few years.

Now on to a quick test of the sweet two-stroke Aprilia RS125. Alex Gobert took a Biaggi replica version out for a roaring ride and found that the little machine is one hell of a fun bike. It is well-made and it looks fantastic in any setting. The bike is good for new riders and old timers at the same time. Of course, in the US it would be a track-only machine, but I still want one!

Friday Evening Moto News - Kenya Concours and TLD Helmets

First up is the announcement that the regulations for the 2010 AccessKenya Africa Concours d’Elegance have been approved. The Concours will have 12 classes for automobiles and 8 for motorcycles. The event will be held on 26 September 2010 and it will be held at the Nairobi Racecourse in Nairobi Kenya. It is amazing how many groups have an interest in this event; they all have to agree to the rules and regulations before the event can be held. It sure would make for a great holiday!

Troy Lee Designs has managed to procure a three year licensing deal with the estate of the late Steve McQueen, the king of cool (to many). They will be producing a limited edition line of helmets featuring the likeness of McQueen. Even their sponsored Supercross riders will be sporting them at this weekend's event in Anaheim, California. Only 700 will be made and they will retail for US$525. So, get yours soon, if you can afford it!

Riders for Health Riding the Roof of Africa - Video

Riders for Health does some amazing work for the people of Africa. On occasion, though, they also take anyone who can afford to pay the entry fee on rides through the continent, which, as we all know, is one of the most beautiful and untouched places on the face of the Earth. Recycled Tires Being Used in - Of All Things - New Tires

The Magnum SRI custom compound consists of at least 16% recycled material and it comprises 20% of the new tires, which are made for motorcycles of 70 to 110c.c. So, no big news for those of us on larger machines, but still a great step towards being able to recycle all of those used tires we throw away every year. And, when you include the entire world, those motorcycles are the most popular - and, thus use more tires - than any size of motorcycle. Magnum D'Or Resources is also have been testing a light truck tire, though, which may mean that larger and stronger tires are in the not so distant future.

Kenyan Man Rides Largest Motorcycle in Nation

This man is a real inspiration in many ways - first of all, I am old and I hope to still be riding when I get to his age - and he also has the most notable bike in Kenya, apparently. He rides a Kawasaki ZX-14 and people there know him no matter where he goes. At 56-years-old, Kimani Gathu rides just about every day and he also has a huge collection of Spiderman comics!

South Africa's First Historic Motorcycle Museum Opens

In the sleepy village of Deneysville in South Africa, the Historic Motorcycle Museum has set up shop. It is the first of its kind in South Africa and, most likely, the only one on the entire continent. Given the large number of racers, tuners and motorcycle fanatics from the region, the new museum should not be missed if you travel or live in the area!

Honda Also to Release New Transmission for Small Scooters

This new transmission will only be seen in the Asian-Pacific and Africa regions as that is where they sell their Cub-based step-throughs. It is called the CV-Matic and employs a smaller overall footprint and much improved cooling for the drive belts contained within the housing.
