The charity organization Help for Heroes raises money for military personnel who are injured in the line of duty in service of their country (U.K. in this case). A very decent cause, eh? Centurion Racing have managed to get their hands on two Arai Chaser Helmets and had them custom painted with the gold medal from the Help for Heroes logo on the crown. The helmets will also be signed by some of the world's top motorcycle racers. The helmets, along with several other items donated to the cause, will be auctioned off on eBay starting 11 November 2009. Sweet plan - start bidding next week!

Centurion Racing Remembrance Day Auction for "Help for Heroes"
45th Annual Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pamona, California
The crowns for all NHRA championships will be presented during 12 - 15 November at the NHRA Finals in Pamona. Pro Stock Motorcycle could see Hector Arana, Eddie Krawiec, or Andrew Hines - even Matt Smith - crowned as 2009 champion at this event. It will be televised on some channels - check your local listings to see if you will be able to see it. Pamona is a historic location for all drag racing events and the final weekend of the 2009 NHRA season will be no different. If you can attend, you must!

He has release a new line of custom floorboards, pegs, grips and shifter/brake pegs. Troy Corser and His Son Visit Wheeldon Off-Road Centre
Wheeldon Off-Road Centre is located near Devon in the United Kingodom held a special Junior Off-Road training for local students - Troy Corser enrolled his son, Kalani, to help him improve his off-road skills. Ben Spies Says He Needs a "Miracle" to Grab a Podium in 2010 MotoGP Season
Spies has really taken the time to learn about his competition in the 2010 MotoGP paddock, and he knows it is going to be a tough road in his freshman year. After all, he will have to come up against many racers who have been doing this for a long time - and many of them are used to the style of riding you need to have in that series; it is rather different from a superbike. But, we also know that he won the World Superbike Championship in his rookie year there. I guess he is trying to tame any expectations that fans may have since most people do not know how different the prototype bikes in MotoGP actually are from his YZF-R1.

Alan Duffus - Local Motorcycle Champion - In Court After Death of Road User
Senga Elder, 67, was killed when Grant Whyte lost control of his vehicle during an alleged race with Duffus, a former motorcycle racing champion in the Scottish 350c.c. Championship. Duffus has denied that the two were racing, but the court is still investigating. Sad to hear such news...

Simon Fastest in Friday 125GP Practice at Valencia
The champion is still on the pace at this weekend's races. Julian Simon may add even more points to his total this weekend - though, they are virtually meaningless since he already has the crown this year. If he does win, it will be the first victory on home soil for the Spaniard. The real surprise, though, is German wild-card entry Marcel Schrotter as he was fastest for much of the practice session and finished in third on Friday...very nice!

Danny Webb Has Signed with Aprilia for 2010 125 World Championship
Webb will ride in the seat once occupied by Nicolas Terol (who will join Aspar Aprilia in 2010) on the Jack & Jones Aprilia team in the 2010 125c.c. World Championship series. He had a problem getting sponsorship money, but that seems to have gone away as they just announced the deal.

Excellent Backmarker from RRX: Harley/Erik Buell/MV Agusta
We certainly have not seen the last of Erik Buell. Where he will end up is a mystery, but I am certain that he will not be able to leave his technological work in motorcycle design behind. The sad bit is really that Harley so integrated Buell into the company - and then treated it like an un-wanted step-child - that it would be almost impossible to sell it. Then there is MV Agusta; at least they are not trying to kill that marque! Harley, like Ducati, has become like Honda has - too much of a business and only limited bursts of passion and inspiration. Honda and Ducati both keep trying to break through, and we are fortunate for that as we get some very nice motorcycles from both of them. In the end, it is all about money...sad to say. With this economy, we are lucky to have anything left of the industry. We need to focus on finding solutions!

2010 AMA/DMG Pro Racing Schedule Released - Big Changes
There will only be nine rounds in next year's AMA Pro Racing series. The biggest change, though, will be no AMA racing at Laguna Seca's Red Bull USGP. In fact, the AMA series will not visit to Laguna next year. Every race except the Daytona opener will be a double-header, but that still makes for a relatively short year for the riders. This is subject to change, of course, as they may add one more date. But, I have no idea how Laguna will be able to have their normal USGP weekend with only one race, though...

More Management Changes at Ducati - Tardozzi And Suppo Both Leaving
We already read about Livio Suppo moving over to Honda (so the rumors say), but this is the first news of Davide Tardozzi leaving Ducati that I have seen. Tardozzi runs Ducati's World Superbike team, so that makes it both of the motorcycle racing world championships loosing Ducati managers. Tardozzi has said that he no longer has motivation to run the WSBK team and he has no plans for where he will go after he departs. Very interesting given the fact that Ducati has been hit hard by the sour economy and even the employees at the factory have taken large pay cuts. I hope Ducati is not in trouble again...they have been so profitable over the last several years...

Mavizen MAY be Developing TTX03 Electric Supermoto Motorcycle
It turns out that an announced electric supermoto class to run along with the TTXGP - which I must have missed - may be bringing Mavizen (owned by the man behind the TTXGP at the Isle of Man TT, Azhar Hussain) into the electric supermoto motorcycle business. As ZERO Motorcycles is the only electric motorcycle company producing a supermoto-spec electric bike, it is odd that a class would be created with only one supplier. So, some words leaked from Mavizen and the creation of that class help make the TTX03 seem realistic.

Steve McQueen Inspired Motorcycle From Triumph and Tag Heuer
In honor of the ultimate 'cool' celebrity, Tag Heuer and Triumph have produced the “Bonneville Heuer” in honor of Steve McQueen. The bike is painted in orange and blue paint scheme to recall the Porsche driven by McQueen's character in "Le Mans", a very good movie which first came out in 1971. In the movie, he also wore a Tag Heuer Monaco chronograph - the watch is celebrating its 40th anniversary, while the Triumph Bonneville is celebrating it 50th anniversary this year. The odd part - even though McQueen was American - is that it will remain in Europe.
Kawasaki Ninja 250R Race Class in Ontario - Canada
The local racing series promoter, RACE, in conjunction with Shannonville Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada, has decide to start a racing class based on the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It will be held as a stepping-stone class for young riders who ride in the Honda CBR125 class and want to move up. The next class - before the introduction of this one - would be the 600c.c. or 650 twin series, so this provides a nice middle ground for those young racers to further hone their skills.

BMW Unveils 2010 R1200RT - R1200GS - R1200GS Adventure
BMW says that the new engines in the R1200 series are derived from their HP2 Sport, and it has been optimized for each model in which it resides. The new engine adds horsepower and torque to all three models and each one meets the new Euro 4 emissions standard. Many other items have been updated on all three machines, so expect even more of a good thing with the 2010 R1200RT, 2010 R1200GS and 2010 R1200GS Adventure models. U.K.'s Silverstone to be Fastest MotoGP Track in 2010
The designers of the new Silverstone track layout have said that the new venue to MotoGP in 2010 will be the fastest track in the entire series. The average speed will be somewhere near 122 mph (196 km/h), which is about 10 mph faster than any other track in the MotoGP calendar. They have also said that the new layout will be 3.613 miles (5.81 Km) in length. Well, next year's British Motorcycle Grand Prix will be worth watching for sure...as if it wasn't already...

Aprilia Confirms RSV550 Prototype Exists - May Enter Production
Unfortunately, this awesome idea for a motorcycle will not be in showrooms anytime soon due to the sour economy. However, Aprilia has confirmed that they have taken the 550c.c. V-twin engine from the SXV and RXV and placed it into a RS125 chassis. It will be called the RSV550 and it would be manufactured alongside Aprilia's streetbikes - if we ever get to see it come to life...The RSV550 is a very good idea! Let's hope it does not die...

Pat McDougall will Move from Superstock to Full-on BSB Superbike in 2010
He has been racing for Beowulf Yamaha in the BSB Superstock 600 series, but the team was looking to move into the full British Superbike Championship. So, everything fell into place and now McDougall will be riding a Superbike-spec YZF-R1 in 2010. Always nice to see the top class expand and become even more competitive...

Craig Beggs to Race in British Suprstock 1000 Series in 2010
For Beggs, it was not a good 2009. He spent some of it on the track in 2009, but it all ended in May and he missed five months of racing. Well, he has a team - Neil Beckett Racing - and a bike - Honda CBR1000RR - so his 2010 is shaping up to be much, much better.

Karl Harris is Convinced He will be Riding in British Superbike in 2010
Harris did not have the best racing year in 2009 - he rode for three different teams and only managed 14th place in the overall standings. Since he has been Supersport champion, perhaps this was just a downturn and he will improve with practice over the off-season. Big Chnages Ahead for Irish Racer Michael Pearson
He had a very good 2009 in the racing series consisting of mostly real roads - not tracks. He won the Cock O’ the North race and took top honors again at the season finale, Killalane Road Races. He did ride both Yamaha and Honda in 2009, but for 2010 he will be on a Kawasaki - thanks to his sponsor and MSS Kawasaki. He's on his way up!

Pre-Running Begins for the Baja 1000 Desert Race
It is the 42nd running of the event and there will be over 325 entries into the race. The event will run from 19 to 22 November 2009. Pre-running for the race will begin this coming Saturday, and more will be completed later just before the event start. Jorge Lauriano Traveled 11,000 Miles from Ohio to Brazil
He did the trip on his Kawasaki KLR650 without the aid of a mobile phone or even a GPS - only paper maps and his own instincts. Lauriano moved to Cleveland, Ohio back in 1998 from his home in South America for the greater opportunity which the area provides. Now, he wanted to add to his adventurous life by riding all the way to his hometown in Brazil - and he made it! Looks like he rode the right motorcycle...

It seems that there are a few conflicts with Formula 1 events next season which may require Dorna to change several race dates in 2010. There is a rumor that Silverstone may switch dates with Laguna Seca; Misano may be moved as it is in conflict with the Italian F1 race at Monza. Bradley Smith Wants to Win at Valencia World Championship Round
Of course he does, doesn't everyone who races? Smith has had an awesome second half to his season which has seen him climb into second place in the 125c.c. World Championship after 5 consecutive podium finishes. He nearly won the last race in Malaysia and came close at Phillip Island. If the 18 year old can take victory at Valencia, he is guaranteed a ride with just about anyone, though he will probably stay at Aspar Aprilia for 2010.

First Ride: Rubén Xaus' BMW S1000RR Factory Superbike!
Yeah, so, the title is the same again - it fits! The team over at Cycle World managed to get their hands on Xaus' S1000RR World Superbike machine and took it out at Portimao, Portugal. Saying that Cernicky was impressed is a true understatement; when you have over 200 HP on tap and an open track with a motorcycle that handles as well as the S1000RR, you certainly cannot be unemotional. Here it is! The Mavizen TTX02 Has Been Unveiled at SEMA
It turns out that the major manufacturer which Azhar Hussain is working with is KTM! I had thought it might be the Piaggio Group - one of their companies - but it turns out he went to Austria. If you look at the photo for even a short period of time, you will easily see this machine is derived from the KTM RC8. It looks sleek and sweet, especially for an electric motorcycle. I can imagine that the handling will also be on par with the RC8 since it uses the frame and suspension of that machine. However, there is much more to this machine than what is on the surface; it is a fully wi-fi enabled race machine which you can tune with a so-equipped laptop. And, the price is not that bad - £25,000 complete and race-ready! Only 50 will be built, so take the link and look into the future...

British Supermoto Championship Season Finale at Kirkistown, N. Ireland
The season in British Supermoto will end at a rather unusual race in Northern Ireland at the Kirkistown circuit. This is due to the P & O Winter series joining the British series at the same venue for the weekend. Honda Launches Mick Extance Honda Off-Road Experience in U.K.
Honda has teamed up with Paris-Dakar legend Mick Extance to create the new riding experience. On offer will be Honda's best off-road weapons on which they will take everyone from beginners to experts to teach them better off-road riding skills. Microsoft Includes Ducati Theme in Windows 7 Release
Believe it or not, Ducati actually has its own theme in Windows 7, which has just been released to the public. They join Coca-Cola and Ferrari on that list. There are several nice photos used for the theme background, so you do have variety. Of course, I expected it - just like H-D, Ducati knows how to market themselves and they put their brand on anything and everything.

Bruce Rossmeyer Harley-Davidson 24-Hour Live Auction Starts Saturday
This coming Saturday, 7 November 2009, will see the first ever Bruce Rossmeyer Harley-Davidson 24-Hour Live Auction online. More than 100 used motorcycles (most, if not all, are Harley-Davidsons) will be auctioned off with bids all starting at US$500. The site will have at least 10 photos of every motorcycle for sale as well as personnel from Bruce Rossmeyer's H-D dealership giving a sales pitch for each one. Keith Code Releases "Twist of the Wrist II" DVD
I have attended his school, and I had a good time and really enjoyed the on-track parts of the school. Of course, I do rec commend it to anyone looking to improve their motorcycling skill set. But, the California Superbike School, founded and operated by Keith Code, also has several reference books and DVDs for sale which are also very valuable. Now, they have put together Twist of the Wrist II, which takes the book on which it is based into three dimensions and does a very good job of helping anyone looking for improvement to find it. Even professional racers have given this work a thumbs-up!

From the MIC: The Environmental Case for Motorcycles
For the longest time I have been trying to convince my Green-addicted (I am very addicted myself) friends and relatives to see just how environmentally responsible motorcycles really are. I have even had a fight with an online columnist about this - she just took some old-school research and denied that there was a case at all. To be sure. there are some motorcycles out there which pollute much more than they should, but the motorcycles in my garage all get better fuel-efficiency than my four-wheeled cage, and, if you add up all of their weight and the materials used to make them, the still only get close to the weight of the old Toyota Tercel in the parking lot. The Motorcycle Industry Council deserves credit for releasing this information...

New to Motorcycling? Want Some Help Purchasing Your First Ride? Look No Further
This is a relatively good write-up of some tips for buying your first motorcycle. There are really no hard-set rules for making that first purchase, but there is certainly room for some guidelines. I heard very little about this when I went looking for my first street bike, and I could have used it. Luckily, I did the research myself - yes, before the Internet was available to the public, meaning libraries - and managed to get a very good starter machine for me at the time. It is not for me, but for you - my dear reader - that I write this blog. So, even though a H-D is probably many decades away for me, you might be interested in one for yourself. Here is a first ride of the new for 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide - the original production chopper. The looks certainly fill the bill, but the engine seems to produce puny amounts of horsepower and torque. It will be fine if your idea of riding a motorcycle is laid-back and enjoying the view, but best not to buy it if you are into running twisty roads at high speed...

Will Honda Actually Produce the CB1100 Concept Motorcycle? Maybe!
The designer of the CB1100 and CB1100R (who also works on the CBR600RR and CBR1000RR), Hirofumi Fukanaga, is hopeful that he can convince Honda management to produce the motorcycle. It is in almost finished form as it is and has no technology which Honda does not already posses. The real question comes when asking if it will sell well (in Europe: YES; in the USA: Probably Not) enough for Honda to invest the money in it. Personally, I am very hopeful that they will produce the 'R' version of this machine as it is just sweet to look at. I guess we will have to wait - as usual - until something leaks out and we hear about it...
First Look: CR&S Duu Cruiser in the Open
It is supposed - again - to be debuted at the EICMA Milan show, but CR&S has already released several photos and only a tiny amount of information about the new Duu. It will have a S&S sourced 1,916cc V-twin motor, some rather interesting styling - only an Italian company could create this motorcycle - and an estimated 2011 release date. They expect to only sell a few, but the price is not unreasonable at around €20,000. Just have a look and see whether it will ever grace your garage with its presence...
Swedish University Displays Concept Motorcycle Designed Specifically for Women
The motorcycle presented here - the Verdandi Motorcycle - is supposed to be electric-powered and be specially built just for female riders. The trouble is that this is just a concept and there is not much to it as of yet - it doesn't even have an engine/motor. However, maybe it will be a good test bed for other motorcycle designs which are more practical and useful...
First Ride: 2010 KTM 690 Duke R
The updated model from Austrian manufacturer KTM was supposed to be debuted at the EICMA show this month in Milan, but MCN (UK) managed to get their hands on one for a test. This new version has increased horsepower and better mid-range power as well. This is, of course, the 'R' model of the standard Duke and it received serious suspension revision and neat, new graphics. Have a read and see if this middle-weight razor-sharp bike is in your future...
The New Norton Commando 961 is Ready to Launch
The good folks over at MCN (UK) have supplied a video close-up look at the soon-to-be-released Norton Commando 961. It will debut at the Carole Nash International Motorcycle & Scooter Show at the NEC in the U.K. The video is short, but they do provide some useful information. Attached to the article is the earlier video in which MCN rides the Commando for the very first time. It is a lovely beast, and I wonder if they are giving Kenny Dreer any credit...

Brammo Pushes for Broader Support from US Government for EV Manufacturers
Brammo's CEO, Craig Bramscher, met with government officials and Congress members at the Clean Energy Economy Forum hosted by The White House. Their chief complaint is that most of the funding destined for electric vehicle manufacturers ends up in four-wheeled projects - very little ends up in the electric motorcycle industry. The House has already provided and amendment which would help, but the Senate has yet to do the same. The 'Shocking Barack' trip was sponsored by Brammo and managed to get some attention on the subject...let's hope that the multinational corporations (who run our government) let the little guys get their hands on the funds they can use for everyone's benefit!

BMW Motorcycle Sales Slumping in This Sad Economy
Their automotive sales are also heading downhill, so it is really no surprise that BMW's motorcycles are also sitting on the showroom floor longer. At least the drop in sales was not near as bad as some of the other motorcycle manufacturers have seen this year; BMW only dropped 8.4% from last year's numbers, with a 2009 drop at 13.7%. It could be much worse - Now, let's get out there and bring the economy back to where it should be!

Bridgestone Withdraws from Formula 1 - Should Not Affect MotoGP

MotoGP: Valencia Preview Notes - Final 2009 Round
There are still many contests to be decided at the final round of the 2009 MotoGP season. Second place in the series is one important question which will be decided this coming weekend. That is not to mention the hard-fought battle for fifth place between Edwards and Dovizioso. Plus, we get to see Ben Spies back in the paddock; I wonder how that will go? The biggest question, though, in my own opinion will be the race to the 250 World Championship, which is now between Aoyama and Simoncelli - also, it will be the last race for the 250c.c. two-strokes as next year we will see the Moto2 series. There are plenty of other answers coming this weekend, so do not miss it!

Las Vegas SEMA Show to Have Roaring Toyz and AEM Performance Electronics
Roaring Toyz is well-known for their custom sportbike builds. AEM is better known for their sportbike Engine Management Systems, which Toyz uses on their builds. Results from 2009 Bercy Supercross in France
The event was the 27th Annual Bercy Supercross in Paris. James Stewart easily ran to the front on the first two days, but his Yamaha AMA Motocross teammate, Justin Brayton, took the overall King of Bercy crown from the event. Stewart sat out the third day due to what may have been food poisoning. Home favorite, Frenchman Marvin Musquin, put forward a very strong effort on his KTM.

Alex and Damian Cudlin are Laid-Off from Phase One Yamaha Endurance Team
The team simply did not have enough budget to keep them on. They have brought in Australian Glen Richards and James Ellison for the final event of the Endurance World Championship at Doha, Qatar. Even worse for the Cudlin brothers, they have not had the best season this year. I think you will agree with me when I wish the Australian brothers the best of luck in gaining employment for next season!

Riding Impression: 2010 Aprilia RSV-4R
Well, after receiving some sad news about the press introduction, some Aprilia RSV-4Rs have made their way to various press outlets. Finally, we get a very detailed riding impression of the new V-4 Italian beauty. It is about what you would expect - a revolution on two wheels. The R version is a step down from the Factory, but you will still have that lovely engine, the extremely stable frame, and the pure enjoyment of riding a motorcycle at the top of the charts!
Tom Wheatcroft - Owner of British Track Donington Park - Has Died
Very sad news, but Mr. Wheatcroft had a great run! At the age of 87 he ran into a long and tough illness which brought him down. He passed away peacefully at home on the morning of 31 October 2009. Wheatcroft worked very hard to get the Donington Circuit re-opened after World War II, and manged to create a fantastic venue which was even selected as the best motorcycle road racing circuit in the world! His contributions to racing of all kinds was enormous and he will be greatly missed...

Rather Decent Tire Test - The 2009 DOT Race Motorcycle Tire Shootout

Another Great Story - Australian Racer Ken Kavanagh
He had a storied career in world championship motorcycle racing starting almost immediately after his 1951 debut. He started on a Norton works team, but had his greatest success riding for Moto Guzzi as he won the 1956 Isle of Man Junior TT on that marque. Towards the end of his career, he even went into Formula 1 auto racing, but did not do well due to the huge expense. He was a fantastic racer and went head-to-head with the best of his time...it's a good read.

Some Details of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Have Come to Light
Now, I cannot verify the source for the linked article, but the author did take the time to evaluate each claim made about the 2010 Multistrada 1200. It may have 150 HP - at the crank, likely - a 425 lb. (193 Kg) dry weight - not likely, but possible - and a fly-by-wire throttle - probably true - and many other impressive features. Spanish Design Firm Bel & Bel Recycle Vespa Scooters
They are taking old-school Vespa scooters and turning them into office chairs. Of course, they also have other 'recycled motorcycle gear', but the chairs are rather interesting to look at...they certainly look comfortable! Though, we still do not know if they are for sale, there are other ideas on their site - Bel & Bel's website, though, is in Spanish only.
Texas Bike Builder Desperado Motorcycles Up For Sale
The CEO, Jeff Nicklus, has said that he has too much to do with his time and cannot invest the time he needs to in order to run Desperado Motorcycles. So, after considering it for many years, he has decided to sell the company - everything the company owns. According to his statement, the company has no debt, so it is a good buy. However, the repli-cruiser market has shrunk a great deal in the midst of this economic recession, so buying it would also mean that you would have to invest in plenty of R&D for the future...

Electric Wheels Incorporated and Larry Dye - Oregon's Only All-Electric Motorcycle Dealer

With Motorcycle Race Protection Getting Much Better, What Might Happen in the Future?
Well, the author of the linked article has been thinking a great deal about this. He offers some ideas but leaves most of the to the reader (you). In one section he is discussing the 'airbag' type systems which are finding which are finding their way into more and more race leathers. If you take all of the 'leg-waving' - I assume he is talking about Rossi's signature left leg off the peg when going into a corner in a race - and add it to such protective system, would racing change? Could it? Well, read and think about it for yourself!

New Zealand's Westrern Province Regional Motorcycle Championship
This weekend will be the penultimate race in that series, and the rookies are really taking the challenge to some of the veteran racers there. Kawasaki mounted newbie Rob Cragg has dominated the Class A series this year. Over in 600 Challenge, a young Michael Wahl has dominated every race on his Yamaha R6 - but, he has to look out for another rookie, David McFadden. The other classes are still pretty much wide open, but none of the championships have been decided yet - watch this weekend and you may see that happen!

We could have predicted this - after all, many motorcycle manufacturers have greatly expanded their model line-up for sale in India. But, the increase is incredible - 52%! Paul Whibley Stuns Competitors and Has Perfect Season in OMA Series
Whibley had already won the GNCC title last week and now he goes down in the record books after winning every single Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV Nationals race in 2009. It was even surprising to Whibley who seemed at a loss for words when he was interviewed after his win at last weekend's Moose Run in Fenton, Illinois. It's a great story and one which will not soon be forgotten!

Josh Brookes Still Waiting to Decide Future
Brookes managed to finish fourth in the British Superbike Championship in 2009 despite not winning a single race and missing three events! His HM Plant Honda team has not decided what they are going to do in 2010, so he does not have an offer from them yet. However, several BSB and even World Superbike Championship (where Brookes has raced previously for three seasons) are interested in him. But, for now, it is a waiting game...

MotoGP Evolution of a Species from Duke Video
A lovely and well-made (as we have come to expect from recent Duke Video releases) documentary focusing on the development of the current four-stroke MotoGP race bike. The video covers 2002 through 2009. It shows how these prototype motorcycles were first developed and the influence of electronics on them and the riders who race them. There is much more contained within. The DVD has been officially released today at £19.56 and can be found at your local video store (most likely in England only) or online.

MV Augusta 60cc Monomoto Superleggera - Is It Authentic?
We may never know the absolute truth, but it would be nice to get some confirmation. The blog posting about this beautiful - if odd - machine has two competing theories. The first one sounds more realistic when you consider the details and the age of the engine on the machine, but the second could also be likely as there are plenty of forgeries of everything available now. But, the blog author does not know much about these types of machines as they have been in existence for almost as long as motorcycles themselves. There is not much information on them, though; sounds like a great research project. Anyway, I have posted the photo of the lovely MV Agusta here, but the story is after the link:
Scottish Rider Jailed for 166 MPH Ride - Fastest Recorded in Scotland
Neil Purves, 27, is a hairdresser and once owner of a Suzuki GSX-R1000. Of course, he lives and works in Scotland. One day he decided to really push the Suzuki and have some fun - well, 166 MPH will get the attention of law enforcement - and it did. Now - the motorcycle has already been sold - he will face 9 months in jail and suspension of his driving license for five years. To be fair, this was the fastest anyone has ever been clocked on a Scottish road, but the punishment seems extreme for a man who had no drugs or alcohol in his system, did not resist arrest at all, and caused no damage. Scotland is a funny place - they will jail you for going too fast, but if you blow up an airplane full of tourists you get to go home when you get sick...(http://tinyurl.com/ygmpjkt)

NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Saturday Qualifying - Late
For some reason, I cannot find quickly updated NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle News until nearly 36 hours after the events - odd. Anyway, Hector Arana continued his late-season domination and grabbed the number 1 slot for the Sunday race. Hines was second and Nitro Fish rider Matt Smith pulled in at third. Once I get results from Sunday, I will post them here...

Husaberg Report: 2010 Indoor Enduro World Cup Opener in Sheffield, England
The 2010 IEWC first round was a rough and tough race weekend in the U.K. Husaberg rider Joakim Ljunggren - who was racing in his first ever indoor enduro - pulled home in sixth place - a very respectable result. Unfortunately, the second factory Husaberg rider was unable to even qualify for the main; Oriol Mena was just unprepared due to the injury he sustained at the recent ISDE in Portugal. Another Husaberg rider, Britain Ollie Moyce, had a decent weekend, but also did not qualify for the main event. Moyce did, though, win the 'night' race at the event and was quite happy about that - as would anyone.

Rieju Set to Debut Two New Motorcycle Projects at Carole Nash International M&S Show
Reiju, a Spanish manufacturer, is known for their small-displacement enduro and supermoto machines. They will show off their limited edition MRT 250 Pro Enduro and their new MRT 450 Pro Enduro at the Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC in the U.K. The show spans 27th November – 6th December 2009, and should be attended by anyone who is obsessed with motorcycles and the culture around them.

Abu Dhabi Looking for Talented Racers
Many people have complained about the lack of 'soul' at the new Yas Marina Circuit near Abu Dhabi in the UAE. So, the local government is putting together a plan to bring up local riders - for MotoGP - and drivers - for IRL-type racing. They feel that if they can get local racers onto the circuit, they will be able to build some spirit and history into the track. If it gets more people into racing at those levels - especially MotoGP - it can't be a bad thing...
